that's why you have the choice not only between width and height as base, but also from long and short edge...freudenthaler wrote:As I understand it, all values are relative to the "base" specified in the "settings"-tab. That makes me wonder, how to use the "same" frame (in terms of size & location) for pictures shot in landscape as well as shot in portrait mode? And cropped to square size as option in between the former two..
no, in that case you would have to adjust your preset for each image individually as soon as you have it cropped or using another cam with another resolution.freudenthaler wrote:Wouldn't it be much nicer to just have to specify absolut pixel values for that?
Played a litte around with different settings of zFrame & zText on different picture sizes & proportions - still not clear how it should work??tintin wrote: that's why you have the choice not only between width and height as base, but also from long and short edge...
if you use long (or short) instead of width (or height), you'll get the same result of your frame (or text) independently of landscape or portrait images...
wrong. with both the two images will have different border sizes in pixels. and that is what it is intent to do! important is that you'll get a constant border size on your prints independent on the resolution that your images has.freudenthaler wrote:How can the frame border have the same size when it's relative to the long edge? Should picture A eg. with long edge 4000px get another border thickness than picture B with 3000px long edge or not? I guess with width / height they should, with long / short they should not - right?
even then... same example: image A has 4000px, image B 3000px, the added frame is 10%. leads to frames of 400px for A and 300px for B. then if you put both image for web-out-put to for example 1000px width. you'll have the same frame width for A and B of around 90px... or are you using for each image a different size for web out put but wanting same frame sizes - that would make me wonder...freudenthaler wrote:However, if you need fixed frame sizes for *web output*, the whole story sucks as long as you don't have pics with the same size
ok. in that case it could be helpful to send me (or post it here) the corresponding xmp file you are using for that image.ChrisC wrote:Thanks for the tip - unfortunately I already use version 1.0.1.10
