Yesterday I decided to play around with the HDR merge in PSP. I had some shot some photos a few years ago when HDR was first introduced, but could not find them, so I grabbed my camera, a Kodak Easyshare P880 Zoom and my el-cheapo tripod, and out the door I went. The only thing that I could find that might be interesting were the clouds. There were some storm clouds building to the NW. So I set my camera up and proceeded to take 3-shot bracketed photos. Once I had several I returned back inside and was starting to process them, and noticed that one of the local television stations was doing a wall-to-wall weather broadcast. Now there's only one reason they do this... tornado. There was a storm cell passing through the capitol city of Topeka, that was producing a funnel and then finally a tornado. Topeka is located about 55 miles North, North-west of me. The clouds that I was photographing happened to be that storm. This was just a start around 4pm, for the evening. This would repeat itself numerous times, basically through the same area, concluding with a final tornado warning for the town I live in, at around 11:30pm.
One such tornado destroyed a small town, that some of my relatives grew up in. The town had a population of about 250, numerous were injured and 1 killed. Thankfully the storm that passed through the town I live in only produced a wall cloud, did not develop into a tornado.
Here's some HDR photos taken of the storms that kicked off the events of the evening.
These first two, were of the first storm that passed through Topeka, around 4pm.
The last two were of the storm building, that eventually would produce the tornado that destroyed Reading.
