startech firewire express card was working then pooff!!

Has anyone experience ths? I was capturing videos from my sony camcorder using VS pro x2 trial version via firewire express card to my HP dv6 2150us for about a week.

All of a sudden, VS cannot detect the camcorder as a capture device, only the web cam. I got a message saying there was a capture driver error. I checked the device manager, system told me that it was functioning properly. I changed the driver for the firewire to the LEGACY, rebooted, but nothing. Changed it to the other two options, rebooted, nothing. Researching this issue, I realized that I am not the only one. Can you help me?
