Unable to activate PE 6.0

I purchased PE 6.0 about a year ago and saved my serial number. I recently reformatted the pc and reinstalled the program. However it cannot be reregistered. Message reads "

activation was unsuccessful. cannot connect to server. please check your internet connection settings

." Online registration gives message "

sorry we are unable to register your product for one of the following reasons: -the serial number is incorrect -this is a legacy product and we no longer support its registration"

. Product support informed me that this is a legacy product, but I believe that it is still active. I purchased the product and would like to continue using it beyond the trial period. Please help.

Welcome to the forums,

I'm sorry to confirm that it is in fact a phased-out product, and Corel no longer provides support. So any links to activation are not active.

This is one of several former Ulead/Intervideo products that Corel has discontinued. If Corel does not support the activation/registering for a product, there's nothing we at the forum can do. We're not employees, just users like yourself..

Thank you for the information, Ron. The strange thing is that PE 6.0 is still being sold on the ulead and/or corel website.

I especially enjoy the photo editing features of PE. What other software do you recommend which has the same or similar functionality?

Also I cannot find any support link at corel where I can email the company with my issues. Do you know of such an email address?

I also noticed that it still can be purchased, along with several other products that are "phased-out". The difference may be full vs "activated TBYB". With full versions they send the serial number to you in your confirmation/download email.

To email corel, you need to first go to their Knowledge base. Click on one of the subjects, and there is one or two concerning activation. Clicking on an answer should reveal a tab that states Email Corel.

I think that Corel MediaOne replaced PhotoExpress. Corel also has PhotoImpact, and their flagship program Corel Draw Graphics Suite.

Thanks, Ron. I'll look for the email link in the knowledge base. I searched it rather thoroughly but I might have missed it anyway.

I'll also call the telephone number in England for Corel customer service.

I am willing to surrender technical backup in order to use the program.

I'll also check into MediaOne and especially PhotoImpact. Thanks for the tip.

By the way, what is TBYB?
