Hal rendering?where do I find it?

Post by logologics »

Often the rendering proces gets very slow. I read that using the hal rendering function might help. I should find that throug the image menu, but I dont find that?

Any suggestions how to speed up the rendering in Ulead cool 3D producton studio 1.0.1?

Thx!

I don't know anything about HAL rendering but as for speeding up your computer try creating a video editing profile
(XP only - not available with Vista)

Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.

Thx for the suggestions. It a bit of a challange to work out all the details, but I'll try.

H.T. (co-moderator & former software developer for COOL3D products) made this response in an earlier post related to HAL rendering.

The HAL Rendering option is only available in COOL 3D 3.5 and earlier. In COOL 3D Production Studio, if you can start it without any errors or warnings then it already has the HAL rendering feature on by default. (In other words there is no software rendering in C3DPS because it's the requirement of DirectX 8 and later)

Thx! That explains a lot!
The only way to speed up things is, If I understood correctly, the way explained above or even buy a more powerfull computer?
WE use the program now on a notebook Compaq windows Xp dual core 2048 Ram

Hi
Don't bank on a more powerful or newer PC solving your rendering speed problems! I had a PC custom built for quick and reliable video editing and it whips through rendering on most other programmes. But rendering the most simple C3DPS animation of just a few bites can take 8 (yes 8) hours if my preference is set to 'optimal'. It improves dramatically when set to 'best' (well, just a couple of hours anyway...).

One of the guys took one of my simple animation files and rendered it on a system that resembled mine and arrived at roughly the same results. If you look at my system details, you'll see it should render without breaking a sweat. The only reason we can think of is that C3DPS is simply not able to work efficiently with new hardware technology and settings.

Before investing in new equipment (unless it is on the to do list for other reasons), you'd do well to follow Steve's editing profile advice first to see if that improves your situation. That way your only investment is time.

Hope this is useful.
Thanks & regards.

Yup, I did say that before. ;)

To make C3DPS rendering faster you could render the project in Draft mode, or fire a feature request to Corel to see if they can modify the program....

Hope this helps.
