Re-Installation of Ulead Products
If you look at the above 3 posts relating to the re-installation of
Video Studio 9 / DVD Workshop 2 / PhotoImpact 11 you will see that the procedure is in essence the same for each product. From this we can deduce the procedure to be followed for all other products where the only variance will be in the areas marked below. At item 5 and item 7 below the folder will be listed in a table at the bottom of this post.
A simple reinstallation or repair from the control panel might not be enough. Please perform the reinstallation procedure this way:
1 ) Launch Windows Explorer and go to tools\folder option\advance setting to check "show hidden files and folders".
2 ) Purge/delete all the files in these folders:
"C:\Windows\Temp"
"C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp" (for WinXP)
"C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact\11.0" (Substitute with your product here)
3 ) Uninstall PhotoImpact (Substitute with your product here) from control panel Add/Remove programs
4 ) Delete the folder "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 11" (Substitute with your product here)
5 ) Delete folder shown in list below.
in
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (Please set "Show hidden files and folders" in folder option in Control Panel)
6 ) Run Regedit from Start/Run in Windows task bar
7 ) Delete folder shown in list below in KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
(If available)
8 ) Reinstall PhotoImpact 11. (Substitute with your product here)
9 ) Install any patches.
Note: Make sure you still have a copy of the installer before you uninstall the software. Before installing, please temporarily close other running programs or applications including antivirus, Norton utilities, screensaver, other memory resident programs including Internet connection, etc. to avoid unnecessary conflict and restrictions within your system.
Table of Folder names for items 5 and 7 above.
If anyone can supply further additions to this list please send a PM to me sjj1805 so that I can include them.

Hi Steve,
You may have seen my posts for 'topic' VS10+ is it worth owning which lists my ongoing woes with VS10+ crashing and how I could make it crash easily.
This post has caused a lot of interest and lots of replies offering advice.
I have emailed the company in Hong Kong who had placed a sticker on the front box.
He suggested uninstalling it similar to your post on uninstalling Ulead products but contained a couple of extra things to manually delete and so I thought that you might like to update your post.
Here is part of his reply ¡V
Launch Windows Explorer and go to
"Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders".
Purge / delete all the files in these folders:
"C:\Windows\Temp"
"C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp" (for WinXP)
*It is safe to delete all contents of these folders. However, leave any files you can¡¦t delete for now.
Delete these folders / directories:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems"
"C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10.0"
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0"
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software Inc" (for full versions)
Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information"
Delete the folder "{E188D820-1218-4E28-8BCA-91134C3664C2}"
Go to Start-->Run
Type "regedit" then "Ok".
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Uninstall
Locate and delete the identity enclosed in curly brackets that corresponds to Ulead VideoStudio 10:
"{E188D820-1218-4E28-8BCA-91134C3664C2}"
Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio"
Delete the folder "10.0"
Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio"
Delete the folder "10.0"
Close Regedit and restart Windows.
Reinstall Ulead VideoStudio 10.
Note: You need to have "Administrator" privileges on your computer. "Limited" or "Guest" accounts won't let Ulead software install or run properly on your computer.
After re-installing the UVS10, you are highly recommended to install the newly released service pack 1
Regards
John
