Aftershot Pro 3 stuck "scanning" previews

Postby ericthered43 » Sat Jun 15, 2019 4:59 am

Hello all. I'm having a bit of a struggle with AP3. I am running the current version (3.5.0.350).
So It is stuck Scanning for previews, and wont export batches. I tried everything I could think of to make it stop. it never makes headway with any progress. If you look at my profile, my computer isn't exactly a slouch.
All of this started recently. I have been using aftershot for a couple years. Recently did a multi day event shoot, So I have a lot of files to deal with.
Cant think of any other pertinent information. Any questions just ask. or even better have a solution! ;)

Attached is the loading deal. I was in a random folder so that's why the 38 images.

did you try to to switch off - making previews while scanning the directory? and create preview only for a lot of files with generate previews ..

"Create Previews during Importing and File System Browsing
This option triggers generation of previews during import into
catalogs and when you look into folders in the file system view.
This option is recommended unless you run into problems with
preview generation. It makes browsing faster (after the previews
have been generated) and allows management of offline images
in catalogs. If you need to explicitly create previews, a function in
the Edit menu is bound to <ALT+P> by default. This function creates
previews of selected images.
Note: When pasting settings on images, the previews will always be generated
regardless of this setting.
Note: Note that the cache settings below are checked during startup only.
During runtime, your cache can grow beyond the boundaries you set here." (from AfterShotSurvivalGuide by Andreas F. X. Siegert, Marco
Frissen)

Thanks for getting back to me, I do have the "Create previews during importing and file system browsing" box unchecked. I did just clear the cache by setting the target cache size to 0. then restarted AS3. it loaded all of the +5k files, but it is still scanning. Doesn't say what it is scanning. its just scanning away. still cant export because it wants to finish scanning before letting me export.
