text - how to set no line color ??

hello,
I've spent over an hour to try and make the text look clean.

In CorelDraw I have the option of having no line / stroke colour, can I do this in PSP?

or If you have any tips of how I could have a sharper look, pls share - thanks

The fonts I'm using are standard - here's how it looks

Arial font, both font and stroke color are black, and stroke width is 0.00

but if you look close there are grey pixels that are making the image fuzzy though I'm using this as a vector.

res is set at 120 - and image size is 6x4 inch - and I'm not clued up on anti-aliasing, if I wanted to understand how would I go about doing this ??

a google search seems daunting as it always brings back so much irrelevant stuff

Anti-aliasing is essentially how computers make square pixels look smooth. They do blending of the actual pixels and the background. In your case Black text with a white background getting various levels of grey. There are different ways for calculating this, for example I find Adobe's anti-aliasing just a bit less severe than PSP's but they tend to be pretty close. If you turn off anti-aliasing on the text you'll see it becomes sharper and blockier. (PSP has 3 levels of anti-aliasing: Off, Sharp, Smooth, which one you have also determines how much anti-aliasing is applied)

I assume by 120 you mean Px/Cm and not Px/Inch. 118p/cm = 300 p/inch. If not, and you're using 120px per inch, then 6x4 inches is only 720x480 which is a very image size not giving you a lot of room to work with as far as how many pixels are used to display the text. What do you have your font size set at? A 12 pt font for example is 12/72 of an inch. If you're using 120px/inch that's roughly 20 pixels used to display your text. At 300px/inch it's 50 pixels. More pixels means that the anti-aliasing can spread out more making a smoother looking letter.

One quick note there is a big difference in how PSP renders the vectors to the screen compared to Corel Draw. PSP Renders the text directly into a raster image and then displays that image at the size set by the zoom for the image. So you're only ever looking at the final pixel result not a clear rendering of the vector to the screen.

I agree with Levi, to get sharper but not jagged edges you should use Sharp anti-aliasing (in your examples, you noted that you have already set stroke width to 0... it's not relevant to edge smoothing anyway). Sharp anti-aliasing (regardless of stroke) is usually very helpful with small/tiny font size.
