I'm having a problem with resizing/cropping to an exact pixel size in the new Paint Shop Pro 2011. First off, I've been using PSP version 7.04 for like ever. In that version, if I wanted to crop only a particular area of an image, to a size of let's say 1920x1080, I would do the following:
Open the image
Select the resize tool, and in the dialog box set the image width size to 1920. The height size would be set by the program.
Select Maintain Aspect Ratio
Then I'd open the Crop tool and:
Enter the following values manually:
Left=0, Top=0, Right=1920, Bottom=1080
A box would appear that allowed me to slide it up and down to surround the area I wanted to crop, double click and done. I would now have a cropped image of 1920x1080. For the love of me I can't seem to get PSP 2011 to do the same thing.
As an example, in the attached photo I want to crop only the upper portion of the person. I realize the finished product with be very pixelated, but that,s so a problem for now.
Either the image is all distorted or the crop box won't work correctly to allow me to select only the area of the image I want. Can anyone on here offer a solution to this problem?

Re: Trouble cropping to exact pixel size
Not sure what you are doing and where you are working but:
You mention resizing and I presume that when you set the dimensions you completed the upsizing to get an image that was 1920 x 3458 pixels.
You then selected the crop tool and were trying to define a crop rectangle using "Left=0, Top=0, Right=1920, Bottom=1080"
When I select the crop rectangle I do not get those settings I get what is shown in the following picture - Pixel dimensions for width and height only.
As you can see there is no problem in setting the crop rectangle size.
Now I just click on that centre moving point and use the Control and arrow keys to move the crop rectangle to just where it is needed.

Re: Trouble cropping to exact pixel size
Thanks.... Not sure what I was doing wrong, but it seems to be working now. Before, if I moved the crop rectangle from the bottom up, the top part of the image would also move up. I couldn't see to get one area to remain in one place while I moved an other. Thanks for the assist....

You were probably using the Selection tool and not the Crop tool.kdog509adam75+ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 2:17 amBefore, if I moved the crop rectangle from the bottom up, the top part of the image would also move up.
