You can also just use Google Maps. Their satellite view looks just like Google Earth. Don't know about adjusting line widyhs in browser but their SDK is pretty extensive for coloring, labeling, and so on.

Thanks for the responses. Levi, that's the info I was looking for. JPArnold, I was puzzled by your initial posts. First you were talking about Google Earth, then changing lines in Google Earth, then Mapsource, then additional programs mentioned in a Google search. So I really had no idea what you were using. In any event, Google Earth looks like a nice alternative to the solutions I have used so far in my travel books.

Re: Can an existing drawn line be made wider
Sorry for the apparent confusion.
MY first post asked about could lines be widened using Paint Shop Pro (what this forum is about) using an image created from Google Earth (I did a screen snapshot from Google Earth creating a jpg image file).
A REPLY came in suggesting that it would be easier to widen the line within Google Earth which I then did (and then took a screen snapshot and opened that in Paint Shop Pro.
My reference to Mapsource was also in answer to a reply (possibly from yourself asking how I managed to create a route/line in Google Earth). Mapsource is a 'mapping application' by Garmin usually used to create waypoints and also routes which can then be transferred to a Garmin satnav device BUT also has a feature to VIEW everything in Google Earth.
So what I did was
1) created a route using Mapsource (there you click on a start point and then an endpoint and it automatically draws the route between the two places using the map data)
2) I did a 'view in Google Earth' which displayed that part of the world using satellite imagery with a coloured line along exactly the same route as in Mapsource
3) I then widened the coloured line by right clicking and selecting properties
4) did a screen shot (pressed the Print Screen key on my keyboard
5) opened Paint Shop Pro and selected PASTE NEW IMAGE in the EDIT menu
Thats all
Quite simple (if you have Mapsource and Google Earth)

Re: Can an existing drawn line be made wider
Thanks for the info. As even the data which appear to be in Google Earth is light years ahead of what I've been doing to get maps, I'll start with that (and I don't have a Garmin.) So, we'll see where that leads.
