I recently wrote the following in one such thread:
Corel offer us the space for this forum and Corel imposes its rules, one of which is that it be used to discuss Corel's related products:If you just mention a competitive product on some other forums, the post is deleted. Here we have been reasonably tolerant and there many mentions of such software, but the line must be drawn at discussing the detailed pros and cons of each. There are many non-sponsored video forums on the Internet where this can be done. After all, if you go to a Shell filling station for a tankful of fuel, would you not be surprised to see a banner stating "Exxon/Mobil fuel gives you a better consumption"? I'm sure Mr Shell would soon tear it down! All discussion in this forum should be related to InterVideo and Ulead products only (except for General Discussion section).
As for it not affecting Corel, this is not true. Corel is offering MSP8 users a free VS11.5+. Why? Because this will allow you into the upgrade path to a new VS software, which we have been told is in the pipeline. Until we know what this will contain, it would not be in Corel's interests to see other NLEs promoted on this board. And please don't ask me what it will contain or when it will be released, because I know no more than you!
So, the unwritten rule is that mentioning other, non-Corel, NLEs is tolerated, discussing their details is not.
I hope this is now clear.
