VS2019 - Audio Channel Balance Issue

Post by Aaron407 »

I am using VideoStudio 2019 (v 22.3.0.436), and I came across a strange issue while using Panasonic avchd camera files with 5.1 audio. As 5.1 audio is no longer fully supported in VS for whatever reason, it is being downmixed to stereo, which is understandable. When I play one of the clips on the timeline, the audio seems to downmix properly balanced in both the L and R channels. However, when I play back in project mode or render the file, the right channel is significantly louder than the left. There are no audio filters applied, so I'm wondering why there is a difference in downmixing in clip vs. project playback mode and how I might be able to retain the proper channel balance without adjusting the audio pan for every clip. It just seems strange that it would downmix differently in the two playback modes without filters or panning applied. Has anyone else come across this?
