Flash animation
Has anyone else had issues with their flash animations after the recent update to VideoStudio X9?
I am in the middle of a project and have lost access to access to flash animation in the graphics section. Images, backgrounds, frames, all work fine but the flash animations are no longer available.
Is there some way to recover these?

Re: Flash animation
What do you mean by "recent update to VideoStudio X9"
Video Studio prior to version VS2019 had .swf flash animation (since replaced by .mov) .swf files require Adobe Flash Player, which Adobe no longer support and have blocked all access.
Have you removed Flash Player, provided you disable it in your browsers, you should still be able to use it, until such time as it becomes unusable.

Re: Flash animation
It appears that Adobe Flash Player has disappeared from Win 10, whilst it is still showing in Programs & Features, a search can find no trace and I have not uninstalled it, so what happened.
VS2018 which is the last version to have .swf files can no longer play flash animation, all filters now display the same image.
We are still awaiting a response from Corel

Re: Flash animation
Hi
Try doing a program reset by renaming the folder 19.0 to “19.0_old”
Locate that folder here
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)
A new 19.0 folder will be created when running X9
If that does not work then try a Settings – Library Manager – Library Reset
Looks like i need to install X9 to check the flash feature

Re: Flash animation
According to the posts I've seen, Windows 10 has removed flash player. The mechanics of that are probably via one of the updates. It's not on my PC, and in P&F it's also gone. So why it would removed form your win10 PC but still be be showing in your P&F is odd.
VS is reported as replacing swf with mov, but the mechanics of that are unclear:
- in a vsp containing an swf file, as in a vsp created under X9 and now opened in 2020, does VS auto replace that with a mov file of the same name?
- does VS expect you to do the replacement?
- or does it just give a re-link error for the swf file?
- does inserting an swf file into a 2020 vsp cause any error at all?

Re: Flash animation
David, you're very very optimistic.
** does VS auto replace that with a mov file of the same name?
VS is not very clever (to say the least)... while I do not have 2020 installed I'm sure that it's MOV's are totaly different in looks, than the very old swf's.

Re: Flash animation
I just spent 5 hours rendering over 500 swf's to wmv.
I used X9 on my W7 disk. I see that VS2018 here, also reading them well.
The cut of date of 12.1.21 was embedded in the player way back.

Re: Flash animation
Same here Adi, rendered all .swf files in Win 7 VS2018 to mp4, any advantage using .wmv

Re: Flash animation
If you are able to play swf usng 2019 or 2020
Rendering to mov with Alpha Channels would be the best option as the transparant background used in swf would be retained in mov's.

Re: Flash animation
Touched a button it seems. But now we know. Essentailly, use the old VS to render swf to a supported format, need not be mov. But needs to be one that's supported in the new versions of VS.

Re: Flash animation
MOV with alpha will be better, but QT must be installed and I will be very surprised if VS will render Alpha (VMS and Vegas can do so). Have you done so Trevor?
*Robert, from my tests over the years I found that "animations" are better in wmv's over H264 mp4's which introduce subtle noise on the video.
The amazing thing about swf 's is they are so tiny but with a lot of visual content

Re: Flash animation
Hi Adi
I do not have QuickTime installed, just testing to see how my pc performs without QT
When Corel provided Mov clips as Animated Overlays, they effectively replaced the SWF files
They also gave the option in Share Mov – with Alpha Channels, the advantage here is having a transparent background
When played looks identical to the source SWF file.
Yes I have converted one SWF to Mov, with hindsight I could have converted all before SWF closed
unable to attach as oversized for the forum

Re: Flash animation
I bought VideoStudio Ultimate 2020 on October 1st, 2020. Very surprising to me that I've been using Projects / Templates with SWF files from it and X10 until yesterday morning without any problem and suddenly in the afternoon the problem occured.
Because of previous problems, I had both versions already renamed to 20.0_old and 23.0_old. Should I try to rename the new 20.0 and 23.0 to « old » again or would there is another solution ?
