Hardware rendering - cracks / pops in output

Post by Robbo870 »

Using VS 2020 Pro, I am exporting to MP4 AVC and noticing occasional pops and cracks in the exported file when Hardware Rendering is enabled.

Turn it off, however, and the project renders well.

Curious if others have this problem. It doesn't really seem to affect dialogue, but it is very noticeable when there's music.

Is there any significant difference in rendering time between how long it takes to render with hardware acceleration enabled, and when it is disabled?

No I didn't notice any difference at all! I thought this was strange. I am rendering projects ranging from a few minutes to over an hour long.

However it could be my hardware. 1st gen i7 with an AMD 5700. 12GB DDR3 RAM. We are talking like 2010 technology here however the PC operates as well as any modern PC I have used. But at the same time I can't discount it.

Sorry but I mean to say I am on Ultimate. Not Pro.

I asked because quite a few users find that enabling hardware acceleration in fact appears not to accelerate anything in the rendering. And quite a few of those users have had other problems with it enabled. We then usually recommend they disable hardware acceleration, and miraculously the problems they were having go away... As appears to happen in your case.

Hmm good to know! I guess I will keep it turned off until I someday get some new hardware.
