I couldn't quite understand what you meant about your friend and VS 2018, but that does not really matter. I am also not sure your complaint should be here in this Wish List as it does not suggest anything specific.

all this with the aim that the next version of corel or to have a real functional update of this software or at least to market a version which keeps the previous functionality

Make it to where we can delete all folders. Like backgrounds, I don't use it it should be an option to delete it. Also, save as I want to set a custom folder not go straight to my projects I should be able to set a custom folder. Every time I want to save a project have to go on a mission to my fav folder. Another is LUTS it would be nice to buy some custom LUTS seeing as I can't use custom ones people made for photoshop. It would be nice if we could buy some from ya'll for other people who use the program at the home and get more screen. I'll post images also. Lastly the crashing. It's always crashing when it seems to be overworked. Hope this helps

Backgrounds, I would minimise the selection so only Backgrounds is listed, then simply ignore it.
You have created your own folders that can also have sub folders
I doubt that Corel will change this to allow us to hide, although that option was applied to some folders in past versions I think for the audio folders.

Saving VSP, yes a bit of a pain when saving NEW projects, but then where should a new project be saved to.
If you create a new empty project and save it to your folder, then when you need to start a new Project it can be opened from File, showing at the bottom of the list.
Then File Save As will allow you to give the vsp a new name and in your folder not the programs default folder.

If a custom-made mask file used in a project is moved or deleted, VS does not prompt for a re-link but rather just uses another file as a mask. Instead, VS should follow the same re-link protocol used for other missing clips: provide the filename of the original mask file and give the user the ability to browse for the clip in a different location.

Currently, the user can select "Blending, Mask Modes, Mask Frame" and see a list of thumbnail images representing the mask file being applied to the clip, but there is no way to identify the filename or location of the file used.

This would be useful when migrating a project to a new drive or folder since mask files cannot (currently) be re-linked by VS.

As far as i know the 2021 program has not been released as it is not available for sale on the Corel web site
