MCCL Multi-Cam Capture Lite (with VS2020) not starting

Post by TheAndyMac »

Came to need MCCL (for screen video capture only) and found it would not start.

Using the installer that is part of the VS2020 set, I have tried repairing and then removing and reinstalling MCCL.
First time does check on screen, and sets resolution - then (most times) brings up a black square then crashes.
Subsequently, the wheel spins a few seconds and then crashes.

How can I get this software to work?

Intel i7 8700K, 16GB RAM, nVidia RTX2070 with 4K screen and Asus WMR headset.

Have tested with the WMR headset both connected and disconnected, and the same issue.
Have also tested with screen set to 1920x1080 resolution (100% scaling) as well as the default 4k (150% scaling).
Always the same!

I am not sure that you can. Understand that the original software was designed as a multi-camera control program recording imagery/sound for situations like audiences or interviews where there may be several camera in use, and a means of sync was needed. Why Corel chose to use a downgraded version of this as a screen capture mechanism (eg, a tutorial or clip playing on Youtube) replacing the previous screen capture program is beyond comprehension, but they did it.

MCCL is not user-intuitive and there are no instructions - beyonds the hard-learned experience of some users - on how to use it. Do a forum topic search using MCCL as a key over the last 2 years (version VS2019 onwards, because MCCL was introduced with 2019) and read the various posts about it. Cr*p that it is.

Hi
Yesterday I finally downloaded the 2020 program from Corel and installed
The MultiCam Capture Lite was also installed

First run showed the Performance Check, I have my reservations as to that process, anyway I always choose the higher resolution.
Clicking OK then launches the program to show two screens

On the larger screen I usually choose a Freehand selection then set the resolution to 1280 x 720 although if I had a 1920 x 1080 screen I would use that.
On the Advanced tab I select my frame rate.

Pressing F9 now removes the larger panel leaving a LSC look alike panel to choose a Project Name and start stop capture options, I also select a Save to folder
As I set 1280 x 720 I can now position my target in my case CVS 2020 to resize to 1280 x 720

All set to capture.
F11 Stop Start and F10 Pause - Resume
Of course I would be better upgrading my screen to HD, that’s another day.

I did not have any problems and Capture worked ok
What are you doing differently to the above?
Regards Trevor
