VS 2018 File Format Mismatch for Downloaded WebM and MP4

VS 2018 File Format Mismatch for Downloaded WebM and MP4
Using any of UmmyVideoDownloader, vdYouTube, and 4K Video Downloader, trying to add HD and/or UHD WebM and/or MP4 files to my media folder cause Visual Studio 2018 Ultimate to give a 1801:1:3 File Format Mismatch error. However, the downloaded files playback fine in Windows 10 Movie TV player. Should I suspect these "free" downloading services are producing poisoned files? Is VS 2018 being stupid/inflexible about these media files? What works for folks in terms of downloading YouTube 4K videos that actually work with VS 2018?
