Wind noise extraction MP4

I recently downloaded VS X7 Pro for a 30 day trial. My intent is to purchase the Ultimate version on disk if the tests go well. The reason I am doing this is that my existing software (Arcsoft Showbiz) cannot read MP4 files. My Sony camcorder (DCR SR220, 60GB HD) was corrected for wind noise by using a Windcutter "dead rat" stick-on fur microphone cover which works great. The problem is the Sony does not record in full HD. Enter the Samsung Galaxy S4 in 2014 which records in full HD (MP4, 1920 x 1080), but despite my best efforts with home made wind blocks (band aid gauze, etc) the Samsung's audio is almost totally dominated by wind noise when out sailing. The mic is so tiny I can't see any way of stopping the noise at the source.

Whew, finally the question. Is there a way to extract the MP4 audio from the video and export it to an MP3 audio file? I have split out the audio in the clip, but see no way to save it as MP3 (the Corel Help and .pdf manual are of no help). My plan was to edit out the wind noise in separate audio software (i.e. MAGIX Audio Cleaning Lab, or some such) and then reintegrate it (I hope) with the video clip. Your help would by much appreciated.

I've got a older version of Video Studio, but there should be a way to create a sound file. It's better to convert to WAV, because both MP4 and MP3 are lossy and you should minimize the number of lossy-to-lossy conversions.

BMost audio editors will directly open an audio/video file and extract the audio. Of course, you need to go back into Video Studio, mute/delete the existing track and insert your "new improved" audio.

The bad news is, there's usually not much you can do about wind noise.

As said, VS can export to uncompressed WAV file which is the way to go, but you don't need VS to do just that, any free converter will do so.

Have a look at "removing noise" in Audacity. There is a process of recording just the wind noise which Audacity turns into a filter and then run you sound track through. Might try it one day.

As for actually exporting just the audio track, go to Share, and in the first option -- see my attached image -- there is the option to choose audio as the output. However, it does not offer mp3 audio --- but you will find .wav, as well as .wmv, mp4 and ogg... As suggested above, I would always choose .wav here.

Thanks for the input. I didn't think to look in Share for the export function. After completing this WAV file creation (which creates a file 40 times the size of a WMA audio file) I found that one should do the extraction BEFORE adding any music tracks. I had already done this and the WAV file includes the music track plus the original audio. I'll know better next time.

One other rookie question - does Corel offer any download of additional transitions? In VSx7 (which has 10 times more than I'll ever need), I don't see just a nice plane-Jane smooth "dissolve".
The one that's offered has some kind of quilting (?) effect going on.
