Re: New Year for AfterShot Pro...

to edit pictures out of a D610 and a D7100, two cameras ASP does not (currently?) support. please check your install, the D7100 works here. I didn't like Darktable's user interface at all! It also felt slower than ASP. that's a feature. darktable uses "Filmrolls" in their taxonomy, so it is pretty ...

Re: CMYK color separations

ah, i see. =) yes, then you want to do the experimenting yourself. still.. make the best RGB conversion you can do and use that as a fixed base for the cmyk-separations. if you want to get predictable results with later images dont start colour-corrections in cmyk space. change the separation curves...

Re: Workflow - Save as JPEG and delete associated RAW

i'd really advise against automating this. just output the jpgs as wanted, then flag the raw as "reject" and when you are done with a folder, filter for rejects and delete by hand. being a little too self-aware of human error i usually dont even delete but move images to a special folder which i can...

Re: CMYK color separations

CMYK is evil. well, not really, but it is a totally different beast than RGB. and unless you have been given a really clear workflow from your printshop - including profiles, software requirements and specific settings for exactly that software version - then just stay away from it. let the printsho...

Re: Aftershot Pro 1.2.0.7 hangs after Batch Output

do you do extensive downscaling in the batch? like from 24megapixels to small web images? Yes. so that really might be it. although i suspect some interference with another setting. try what happens if you make the output settings a little bigger. i had problems producing 560pix images while 720 an...

Re: Aftershot Pro 1.2.0.7 hangs after Batch Output

i have seen something similar and then it went away. one of those bugs i never got a grip on. anyway, here are some ideas: do you do extensive downscaling in the batch? like from 24megapixels to small web images? any strong settings of e.g. wavelet denoise above 50 on the images? does the batch run ...

Re: New Year for AfterShot Pro...

Rick, it's been nice talking to you. and a nice and warm Welcome! to Joseph Lin. although, i hope you like lemonade of the sour-bitter kind, because that is all i have currently to serve. all outta sugar and cherries. all this changeoverchange style of business is the reason why i am not really hope...

Re: AfterShot Pro 2.0 Research

Mr. Champagne can be seen on a videoclip on the ASP facebook page, talking about ASP 2.0.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4qSpGhptgQ well, we cant blame AMD for posting things they find exciting. but then.. even the slowest computer needs zero time to process un-supported image formats. hell, my ...

Re: AfterShot Pro 2.0 Beta Update

generic raw-support. switching software is way more harmful to the workflow than having a little red exclamation mark on the thumb which warns us about sub-par raw-support... while i still think that DNG is a good idea gone really really bad, you cant stop the future: Lumia1020 mobile Phone shoots D...

Re: AfterShot Pro 2.0 Beta Update

thanks for the update. looking forward to beta-testing, been missing that. although, i doubt i have any graphicscard in all of my computers that goes anywhere near this fancy openCL stuff. everytime the tickbox in the preferences is greyed out. being on a laptop running linux does not help much, too...

Re: AfterShot Pro 2.0 Research

A "single click" way to do the same toggle with the mouse would also be welcome. Currently a click on the "filter" icon opens up the small "filter window" where each filter option has to be unchecked for the filter to go away. This adds a lot of unnecessary clicks to some (&mine) workflows. having ...

Re: AfterShot Pro 2.0 Research

interesting thoughts, alexander. i am a professional photographer and wouldnt want to be forced to work with a fully databased raw-converter (hard to share among various machines), wouldnt want to leave linux - try automating things on system level with windows or shed out lots of useless cash for a...

Re: Unpredictable delete function

scorpi11 wrote:is there an easy workaroud to avoid deletion of the wrong files?
yes. adjust your workflow to not delete files in ASP at all. e.g. use rating or flags to mark the unwanted ones, then filter and move away. if you dont move them across physical drives this will also be much much faster than deletion.
