Disappearing Palettes

I just got a new computer and also upgraded the size of my primary monitor. I installed PSPx8 Ultimate and opened my workspace (which I had saved from my old computer.) The palettes, which I used to have open on my second screen, were all bunched in the upper right hand corner of my primary monitor....

Re: Add texture to a layer

Thanks that worked great. Are the help files broken? I tried those first and after I clicked on them (from within PSPx9) nothing happened.

Add texture to a layer

I thought I had this down. Apparently not. I have a layer in a color I like (tan) with multiple smaller layers on top of it. I am trying to add a texture (probably canvas, but am currently using brick so I could see if there was an affect.) I have the base layer (the plain tan one) highlighted. I op...

Re: Feathering One Photo Into Another

I did this in the past by putting the two photos on different layers and using a black/white gradient mask to blend them together.

Re: The future of PSP

In a way, unfortunately as I like the product, I have already "moved on" from PSP. There are some programs which do just about everything I want which are faster, easier, less buggy, do a better job and in the same price range. I continue to use PSP for things like add text (a rarity for the stuff I...

Re: Inconsistent Pen Tool

Hmmmmm, I have not tried reset. Think I will now. Thanks much. (Can't believe I didn't remember to try that, seems to work fine now.) Tried it off on and for several hours..... working as before. Duh...reset, reset, reset! Thanks again!

Inconsistent Pen Tool

I don't use the pen tool much, but when I do it is usually to draw non-connected straight lines. As far as I know, I understand most of the tool and how to use it. The last month or so I have been having an unusual problem. I have the photo where I want to draw a straight line. I will start to draw....

Re: The Last Straw

It is likely that this conversation will go no where if people don't read or understand the responses. Best (as opposed to LR being the most popular) referred to the comment that best doesn't mean most popular. As far as I can tell, the factoid I mentioned that LR was "most popular" by far via polls...

Re: The Last Straw

Because a photo program (LR) is by far the most popular in the world doesn't mean it is not the best. In fact, most of the good photographers I know think it is the best (and most of the mediocre ones like me as well.) I probably only know a couple of hundred serious photographers personally, so not...

Re: The Last Straw

Why? Photoshop on CC also comes with LR and Adobe RAW (and numerous other programs.) Together they form probably the most powerful photo editing tools in the world. In addition, LR is (by far) the most popular editing software in the world (any number of surveys show that.) No matter what other phot...

Re: Adding Colored picture frame

To do so simply drag the frame layer on to a blank part of the workspace, then go to File>Export>Picture Frame and save it using the same name as the original but adding an identifying word like the new color. In this example it could be "edge brush grey" (without the quotes) if you had used grey a...

Re: Adding Colored picture frame

Ah, good idea, selecting with the magic wand and using flood fill. Thanks much. As to why I want to do it, the "frames" I wish to use would be consider "borders" by some programs. Open your photo, go to as I said, go to PSP select image/picture frames/the first "brush frame" (can't remember the full...

Adding Colored picture frame

I am not sure how to do this, or if it can be done. I make collages in which I create a 16x20 inch colored background, then select various pictures, resize them and add them as layers. This time I would like to add a picture frame such as the first edge brush (which comes with PSPx8) and have the fr...

Re: Nik Collection

Sorry, don' have x7, but it works in x8 and win 8.1, I have had versions in the past which did not but the use of the scripts made everything fine in x7 and other configurations. However, in x8, win 8.1, sp1 NIK works fine in 64 bits. So try the scripts.

Re: PSP X8 Icon is - weak?

Have your tried right clicking on the icon, selecting properties, then shortcut, then change icon? You should be able to associate just about any icon on your computer with just about any other program. If you don't have a particular image or icon you wish to associate do a search for free icons and...
