What worked for me was to create seperate MPEG files for for each complete clip. Then, re-combine the clips into a new project, joining them with transitions. Then, save this as one big MPEG file, which was used to make the DVD. (In both cases, I was editing with Video Studio and Authoring with DVD...

I think not. (But, I'm not certain.) DVD Workshop is DVD Authoring Software . What you want to do is Video Editing . You can use an editing program like Video Studio. This can get confusing, because there is some overlap between programs. I'm using 4 or 5 different programs for capture, editing, aut...

Corrupted MPEG files?
I'm starting to think that there are a few different causes for this symptom... In my case, and perhaps in yours, I think it was caused by corrupted MPEG files. I'm using different software (Video Studio & DVD Workshop), and I got-around the problem by trimming each clip and saving each trimmed clip...

Digital or analog?
Right. Is it digital or analog? If it's digital it should have either a FireWire or USB port, and it should have come with software and a cable. If it's analog (i.e. VHS), you need a Video Capture Card , or a Video Capture Device. ATI makes the very popular TV Wonder and All In Wonder cards. Hauppau...

YES!
YES! - I usually have one MPEG-2 file and I add several chapters. I hope I don't leave something out... 'cause the computer I'm on now (at work) doesn't have Workshop. Go to the point in the video where you want the chapters. You can type-in the time, or use the forward-backward buttons. Then, clic...

You need a Macrovision remover
TECHNICAL - You need a Macrovision remover box , such as The Clarifier. You hook it up to the analog video cables between the "player" and "recorder". Some video capture cards, such as my Hauppauge PVR-250, ignore the Macrovision so I don't need a Macrovision remover. LEGAL -In the US we have "Fair...

Take a look at this. I've been using DVDshrink (Free!!!). I set DVD Workshop to the highest quality, and DVDshrink will re-code the authored DVD files, shrinking them just-enough to fit. I'm sure that re-coding degrades the video, but to me it wasn't noticable. (My source is VHS, so it's low definit...

i also cannot insert different movie clips as chapters in the same title... the ADD CHAPTER button is ALWAYS disabled. Did you figure this part out ??? First, you have to advance the video to the point where you want to add a chapter. Then click "Add Chapter"... it will add a chapter-point at the c...

The products do "overlap" a bit... Video Studio is for EDITING. This is cutting & splicing, fancy-transitions between scenes, special effects, adding background music, naration, titles... all the stuff the director does to put the movie together the "film" is shot. If you want to make your own movie...

Pinnacle Makes both external boxes that connect between the video device and your computer's FireWire or USB-2 port as well as cards (PC boards) that plug into a PCI slot inside your PC. The most popular video capture cards are the various TV-Wonder and All-In-Wonder cards made by ATI . I have a Ha...

YES - Lots of people have experienced sync problems! Search the board for "sync" . You'll find several related posts and suggested work-arounds. In my case, I was editing MPEG-2 files with Video Studio. I assume it had something to do with the I, P, B-Frames getting screwed-up. Or, maybe DVD Worksh...

I've had a similar problem. 1. Try deleting the thumnail (Right-click, delete), and then re-open the file. 2. If that doesn't work, try renaming the video file, or copying it and opening the new file. In my case, I had made a change, making the file longer, but DVD Workshop seemed to "remember" the ...

TapesPlus.com has 'em
http://www.tapeplus.com/labels-cd.html has clear labels. I haven't tried the clear ones. The bulk white labels I got from them didn't seem to be as "photo quality" as the real "Neato" labels. I've burned a spindle of 50 DVDs, and I've put labels on all fo them with no problems. I've been putting la...
