You might consider getting a larger hard drive to replace one of your 80GB units. You could put the old drive into a USB enclosure so you can still use it. Hard drives are cheap these days - you can get a 1TB drive for $100 or less. There would be two principal benefits from keeping the video in mp...

Well, my issue there is that the recordings are over 1GB per hour. That's more than I have room for. I'm trying to find out how small I can make them without drastically sacrificing quality.

I just want to be able to save them without taking up a tremendous amount of space and to be able to watch them on any PC without too much fuss. I'm not looking to put them on the internet and I don't have anything like a cell phone or an iPod that I want to use them with. What would you use if you ...

More specifically what I am doing is taking shows recorded on my DVR, moving them to my computer via the DVR's network connection, removing the commercials, and then saving them for future use. These are shows that I plan to keep long term, things that I might like to watch several times down the ro...

File Format for Saving TV Shows

I'm quite new to video editing and was wondering which format was best to use to save recordings from television, or which option is the best compromise between size, quality, and flexibility. I'd like to be able to play them on any PC without too much fuss. I've been using the WMV Broadband preset,...

Sorry. It's VideoStudio 12. I'll try what you just suggested.

EDIT: That seems to have done it. Thank you very much.

Trouble Creating Chapters

I'm completely new to this, so I'm probably missing something very obvious. I've edited a few mpegs together and am trying to make a DVD. When the Create Disk screen comes up, my project is listed along the bottom, but all the controls in the player are grayed out. I get the same thing on the Add/Ed...

Your pc should be up to it, so it's unlikely to be a cpu issue. Have you tried using the software that came with the All-in Wonder card? did it come with software? Ugh. I've been banging my head against the metaphorical wall of ATI's bundled software for three days. While I was originally able to g...

Jittery Capture in MPEG Format

When I try to capture video from a TV source in X2 the picture seems to shake up and down a lot in the saved video if I use a format other than the DVD option. When I capture in DVD mode it looks fine, although the files are of course enormous. The video in the preview window looks fine until I hit ...
