toast
DVDs may be cheaper than BlueRays - at least for the moment - but a dual layer DVD that is used for something that turns out not to be exactly what you want, is a waste nonetheless. I can see the disc building in the set temporary work directory where the file I'm looking for builds in cvtedtitle fo...

Create AVCHD disc on hard drive
For some reason when I try to create a AVCHD disc from some movie files the only option is to burn it to a disc. The options to write it into AVCHD folders on hard disc are disabled. What options are needed to enable writing to folders? I'd rather check results before toasting some discs that are no...

mpeg-2 to AVCHD
I now can reduce the size of the MPEG-2 to 7 GB for a dual layer DVD but when I try to create an AVCHD disc all I can do is create it on a disc rather than as a folder on hard drive, which is what I want (as more needs to be done afterwards and the disc would give me an .m2ts file again - and I have...

findings
I found AVCDecoder produced an h264 codec file of 1280x720 at 47.95 frames which included black bars as part of the image (which is correctly formatted as TechniScope widescreen). Moving that 00000.m2ts file into VS X2 and trying to output it again, no h264 output option was there. The best I could ...

details
It is an odd aspect ratio/resolution. The movie is TechniScope, so in the usual 16:9 widescreen it will still show up with horizontal bars to make up for the reduced height. It was recorded from television and given to me as 720p Matroska .mkv file (with the 1280x544 pixels). That is something Video...

good try but still wrong
That seems like an odd way: you want one file and you get a disc from which to extract the file. But I did try but that doesn't work properly either. I find a 00000.m2ts file in the disc folder but when played it shows the same wrong aspect ratio. Playing with VLP the codec shows 1920x1080 display a...

VideoStudio X2
I hope I made clear that I'm currently using the VideoStudio X2 Pro trial version because it is supposed to support high def formats. Something my old version of MediaStudio/VideoEditor does not. So I'm in the right forum and the question remains: where did they hide native H.264 / AVCHD output form...

Creating m2ts files
I've used Ulead MediaStudio for a long time and now try to also handle high def stuff. So I arrived at VideoStudio X2 and downloaded its trial version. But I cannot get it to output high def stuff as m2ts files. My problem: I've got an m2ts file (converted from Matroska using tsmuxer) which is 720p ...

However, now I think about it I don't think my version for Nero burns ISO's. Very annoying when software claims to do something but then dosnt deliever! Nero does burn ISO or its own NRG file by selecting "Image Recorder" as buring device instead of a real burner. When starting, it will ask for the...

smart rendering
Smart rendering works, provided: - all elements were processed using the same mpeg2 encoder - all elements have bitrates lower than the project setting (otherwise they are "downscaled" to these, i.e. rendered) - all are interlaced (progressive is rendered) - all are in PAL or NTSC (the wrong ones ar...

Shrink
Quite simple really. Got 4 tv episodes captured from DVD recorder.
They are 4.7 GB in total. I\want to burn them on a single DVD. Hence I shrink them a little bit. The DVD recorders have mostly preset bitrates, so you cannot set them to the right rate from the start which would have been easier.

size exceeds double layer DVD
I had this error too and thanks to some entries in this board was quickly lead to the reason: the total size of the MPG files to include on the DVD exceeded the 8 GB available on a double layered DVD. One would hope that burning it to a folder on a hard drive would allow larger sizes, but fair enoug...

Dolby 5.1 lost when title is cut
I have a movie using 5.1 dolby surround to which I added subtitles. I have some deleted scenes that I want to insert. The easiest way to do this is to cut the movie title into two parts and insert a deleted scene in the middle. The advantage is that the two movie parts retain their subtitles at the ...

Fom the original statement I gathered he was composing a new DVD from little bits of film. If you want to combine these (with titles, transitions etc) you may want to use an editor before using DWS as that would make all parts a title and the title-transition is always noticeable. But even if you di...

No, the original source files are gone - the DVD is now my best source that I would like to reuse. But I found no way to do that other than re-capturing which looses some quality. Some other experiments with a long film I Nero Recoded to fit a DVD and then tried to rip part of it gave no problems in...
