Re: VS 2020 crashes w/large project

I had a similar problem a while ago, and as I recall, if I chose a different format than MP4 to render to, maybe AVI, VS still crashed, but instead of leaving an empty file it left a video file that I could play right up to the point where VS encountered the offending content, which helped me identi...

Re: Slowing down for easier cutting?

I find it more efficient to use Avidemux (free video trimming utility) for initial cutting/trimming of video files. You can scroll the scrubber or play your clip until you get to the right area and then move a frame at a time, or a key frame at a time to decide where to cut. Saving the trimmed files...

Re: [VS2020] Do you have memory leak as well?

When I tried to use the "Mask Creator" function I got frequent 'silent crashes' too. I just stopped trying to use it.

Re: Dissolve transition to begin/end a video

There's also the option to just right click the video file in the timeline and then select "Video Fade In" or "Video Fade Out".

In "Transitions", use "Fade to Black".

Re: Videostudio crahses or stops responding

I had not used the mask creator function in the past. After I upgraded to VS 2020 I noticed the icon and was curious, so I tried making something very simple and experienced "silent crashes". It wasn't a priority for me, so after a few attempts I just assumed it was a bug and haven't tried it since.

Re: videostudio 2019 still slow!!!

I saw the other topic as well, but again, my Lenovo laptop is performing very nicely. In the editor I am NOT using the proxy file function and the video files run just fine, not jerky at all. They are MP4, 30 FPS, from a GoPro 7 and a Lumix FZ47. With my old HP laptop I had to use proxy files or the...

Re: which lenovo legion 5 amd ir intel?

Projects are very similar to what I was doing on the previous system, using still photos, video from a Panasonic Lumix FZ-47 and a GoPro Hero Black 7, mostly 30 fps. Previous system specs: Hewlett-Packard HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC Windows 8.1 (x64) (build 9600) 2.50 gigahertz AMD A10-5750M APU with AMD...

Re: which lenovo legion 5 amd ir intel?

I'm probably a pretty basic user and I think my settings are pretty "vanilla" out of the box, but I'm attempting to attach a Word file with screen shots of the settings in "Preferences", and from a typical render screen. When I upgraded to my Lenovo Legion laptop everything in VS got way faster. Ini...

Re: which lenovo legion 5 amd ir intel?

I can't offer any help between those processors, but I upgraded to a Lenovo Legion laptop a little less than a year ago, and the performance improvement in VS was enormous. I used to only run larger renders over night but now they must be five times faster.

Re: Should I upgrade?

For what it's worth, I had VS 2019 Ultimate and recently had a pretty simple project with several GoPro clips. I tried various options to try to render this project and kept getting error messages or "silent crashes" (I assume a "silent crash" means the program closes with no error messages of any k...

Can't get a snapshot in VS Ultimate 2019

Either it's not working, or I can't find the files. I'm sure I've used this feature before, but maybe not with this version. I load a video clip, position the scrubber to the frame I want, click edit, and then snapshot, or use the option under the capture icon. In either case the menu closes with no...

Re: Mercalli FX fails to compile in VS 2019

Thank you sooo much nyackier!! The information you shared was exactly what I needed to resolve the problem! I did just as you said, opened the VSP file in the editor, set the frame rate for the project properties to match the selected output frame rate for the rendering process, accessed each clip i...

Mercalli FX fails to compile in VS 2019

I'm working on a project with a number of action video clips of snowmobiles. I applied the Mercalli image stabilization effect to a number of the clips. Initially I took the defaults with the Mercalli effect (universal camera), went into "customize" for the effect for each clip and ran the "analyze"...
