Re: Catalogs with relative path

Yes, this I did understand. What I still can't understand is the way - and if - it actually works. The explanations from the help seem to me all but finished. I'm going to give it a try with a usb stick with only a couple of photos - not the 15000+ on my disk - and try to understand how it really wo...

Catalogs with relative path

Hello, So, I have problems sharing my photos and catalogs between Windows and XP. I save my photos on an external drive. They lay into the \Photos\NEF\ folder, in individual folders. This disk contains another folder named \AfterShot\Catalogues\, which contains the so-called catalogs. From whithin W...

Re: XMPs from Windows to Ubuntu

Hello,
I thought I could manage this using relative paths, and tried to follow the online help indications, but I didn't understand the way to achieve this at all.
I feel like the help lacks some informations.
I'm going to open a new topic for this.
Regards,
J.-L.

Re: Still trying to figure out the ASP2 molasses

.../... AND, after installing the program, both the Help menu and the title bar of the application report the name being AfterShot 2, NOT AfterShot Pro 2. This is normal : since a few versions, the name was changed from AfterShot Pro 2 to AfterShot 2. It took me some time to realize that. Next, I i...

Re: XMPs from Windows to Ubuntu

Try the whole thing in file system mode without the catalogs. So, it might just be because of the catalog itself ? I regularly do a first culling and keywording run on Linux and then copy things over to a Windows box. The XMPs work just fine. Yes, but in my case, I just bring the disk from a comput...

XMPs from Windows to Ubuntu

Hello, I'm currently facing something that puzzles me : my photos are on an external drive so I can read them either on my Windows XP desktop or my Ubuntu 14.04 laptop. Both are running 2.1.2.10, though 32 bits on XP and 64 on 14.04, and on both I use catalogging, but the paths for the catalog are d...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 : Full screen menus problem

@uri2510 : It is a Dell E4300 laptop with Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset.
I recently reintalled 14.04 from scratch to ensure all would be OK.
I display on a LG 32" TV at 1920x1080. The video cable has all its pins wired.
I didn't modify anything.
Rgds,
J.-L.

Ubuntu 14.04 : Full screen menus problem

Hello, I didn't know where to post this... Since I have problems with the latest version, I am still using the previous 2.1.2.10 x64, but this happened with previous ones too. On my Ubuntu machine, if I display full screen (F11 key), then : a) the menus are not active anymore, ie clicking on Fichier...

Re: Updating to 2.2 on Ubuntu but won't start with 'old' set

I'm facing the same issue : after installing the latest version, it asks for files and catalog location and, then 1- if I try to select the ones of the previous installation, it crashes 2- if I accept the ones that it suggests me, it works but a- goodbye my settings b- I have to re-enter my licence ...

Re: Improving the Catalog Filename Search (ASP 2)

You might as well add : there is no way to move photos from a catalog to another.
But I doubt anyone will take it into account and add those features.
I hoped the new version would allow all this, but sadly not.

Re: ASP image quality vs. in-camera JPEG

I didn't mention any other converter but ASP.
The comparison was exclusively between ASP and internal camera processing, which tends to show ASP as more neutral than Nikon (in our case) soup.
I can't presume of other software behaviour.

Re: ASP image quality vs. in-camera JPEG

As far as I know, cameras internal processing is set as to match the tastes of people, not te reality. I had the same kind of discussion with a friend who owns a D700 too. He said that, when he shot raw + jpeg, he liked the jpegs much more than the raws. That, on the display of the camera. So I prop...

Yes, I read those pages and really wanted to contribute by sending pictures taken with my nikkor 20 f/2.8 AIS, 500 f/8 AIS, 50 f/1.4 AF (not D!) and 70-200 AFS VRII, and my Tokina 28-70 f/2.6-2.8. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't find a suitable target where I live. No steel and glass buildings, onl...

Re: Cannot print - printing options are missing (ASP>=1.0.1.

Why should whe have to pay for thirdparty software to do something ASP ought to do itself ? Moreover, ASP isn't even capable of managing turboprint, one has to save as (tiff, jpeg, whatever one wants, etc.) and then use turboprint. What for a joke is that ? ASP is the only one program that can't cor...
