Annoying splash screen

Annoying splash screen

Postby delboy007 » Thu Jul 20, 2017 8:03 am

Please remove the annoying splash screen when I open videostudio. It locks my desktop so I can't do anything while it is opening.

Hi

We do not work for Corel and I guess they will not read this post, contact Corel Support to explain the problem, maybe they can reduce the size in future versions.

However Asik replied to a post explaining a workround -- here

same issue different version and the workaround still doesn't work. I would hope after an upgrade that Corel would have stopped this practice.

It doesn't matter how big the splash screen is, the developer has configured it to lock my computer until the splash screen has gone

VS 2018 Splashscreen configuration settings.JPG
In VS10, I went into the program installation folder and deleted all files pertaining to (splash screen) in the name and that eleminated my splash screen.
In VS 2018 I took away the splash screen in a more professional way; one of the files in program folder is (splashscreen configuration settings) I changed 2 or 3 settings to -0-(zero)
and that eleminated my splash screen see attached photo. the reason I did this was because the splashscreens were causing delays in program startup at tim es.

Thanks for that rjkok67. It certainly works. And it is useful since asik's fix does not work for me with VS 2018 -- though it worked with previous versions. The problem with 2018 for me is that the 21.0 folder in C:\Users\[MyName]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) does not contain an en-US folder as 20.0 and preceding versions do. Nor does it contain, as far as I can see, anything else relating to configuration of the splash screen.

Brilliant !!! Works like a dream and loads much faster.

I contacted support and this is what they said:

"Sorry for the trouble you are facing. But splash screen is the default feature in the software where you can see the software new update. However for sure I will highlight your concern to our development team."

Maybe someone else can make some sense of that cause I can't.

I really like this software but Corel's hard sell I think is outrageous. I wasted an hour in the last version getting rid of ads that kept popping up in the system tray and elsewhere. You expect that kind of thing if it is free or trialware but not when you have paid for a licence. When I finally go rid of them I still had to look at a sales nag screen for the new version every time I opened the program.

I don't know what ads popping up in the system tray you are talking about - I have never seen any

Then you are very lucky. It was in version X10. I had to contact support who gave me the details below . Then I had to get back to them again because there was another popup somewhere else. It wasn't even just for videostudio updates. They were trying to sell me their other products. It was acting like malware in my system tray.

----------------
Open up a run prompt by holding down the windows key on your keyboard + the letter "r"

2. Type Taskschd.msc and press ok.

3. Once the Task Scheduler app appears highlight the Task Scheduler Library Folder towards the top left.

4. The box on the right will show you what programs have scheduled tasks.
5. Locate the CorelUpdateHelperTaskCore task and right click on it.

6. Choose disable.
7. Close the window.
