FEATURE REQUEST: USB Mastering for Video

FEATURE REQUEST: USB Mastering for Video

Sorry mods, I did not have any idea where to put this in the forums since currently no Corel software does this, but since I own Corel VideoStudio I figured I'd start here. Unfortunately I moved on from VideoStudio many years ago and now use Premier Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and After Effects because I just couldn't get done what I needed to do with VideoStudio. With that being said, I still love the simplicity and ease of use of VideoStudio so it was the firs thing that came to mind when I ran into my current problem.

I occasionally shoot wedding videos and want to provide the customer's wedding video on a personalized USB stick. But I do not want the customer to have to browse the file structure and click on a file based on its name, I want the USB to autoplay, an HTML5 menu to pop up, and let them navigate the chapters just like it was a DVD. This is 2019, no one uses DVDs anymore, brides (and grooms) want their wedding videos on USB and it needs to be playable on anything (hence the HTML5 request).

So this leads me to Corel's VideoStudio. If VideoStudio or any Corel product had this killer feature I would buy it today just for that one feature. So far I have only found 2 other vendors out there that offer this, their user interface is terrible and they are expensive. I can see this being useful for presentations, conferences, and more than just wedding clients. It's time to let the DVD die and get with the modern times. A simple wizard that lets you drag in your videos, set chapter markers, navigation buttons, background graphics, and an export to USB would be fantastic.

Just look above: Wish List. That is where it belongs. Hopefully, TDAUthoring Works will offer it in their next upgrade.

As I mentioned, no current Corel product does this so it is not necessarily a VideoStudio feature request, they could add it to VideoStudio, it could be added to a different product, or it could be a whole new standalone product. They have DVD Movie Factory Pro for example, so clearly Corel is still putting development effort into DVDs and that is a standalone product, so possibly they would add this feature to that product instead. I don't care where they add it, I'll buy it.

A suggestion out of left-field, as it were.
VS does allow you to create a playable DVD-like file system on an SD card (Share, Disk in the project menu bar, SD card in options for media). You could try rendering your result to an SD card, and deliver that; or after rendering, then copy everything on the SD card to a USB stick, and deliver that.

I would not agree your comment about DVD's. The market still sells them everywhere, cheap as chips ($18 for a barrel of 25+ or about 75cents each. Often cheaper). So customers still want them in volumes enough to make wide scale retail sales attractive. What has gone to the dodo-land is BR disks: once commonly available alongside DVD's, are now only available on-line by a few specialist retailers, and expensive ($15 for 5, or $3 each) plus postage.

Maybe autorun app for SD can solve herein issue, but will smart TV's run it? they use odd OS.
