Introduction_and Query

Postby OlmosdePicata18 » Thu Nov 06, 2014 11:49 am

Hello,
I'm a new member and discovered this excellent forum only yesterday. I've been using the former ULead Cool 3d since Version 2, upgrading with successive versions. This started with V2 on Windows 98 and continued through to XP Professional where Production Studio was a mainstay and during this time I used it extensively for video titling etc. for family and friends events, as I am just a keen hobbyist. However when I changed to Windows 7 Utimate it would not recognise any of my versions because of a missing .dll file. In spite of installing the file it still ran very slowly, in fact slower than I ever remember previously. Eventually I gave up because it became so time consuming and frustrating. When I recently saw the Corel trial version was available I downloaded it but unfortunately it did strange things.
1: It failed to run, as an error message told me that screen resolution was insufficient and I needed to adjust it. I tried ALL the settings from 800 X 600 through to the recommended system settings of 1600 X 900 but all failed. I changed to another monitor where 1366 X 768 is the recommended settings but again I got the same error message and it wouldn't run.
2: In addition (after installation) it reduced the screen width on both devices so that black lines appeared at both sides. The height was okay.

Finally I uninstalled it on my system and then installed it on my sons laptop which runs Windows 7 Home Premium. It installed perfectly but it is painfully slow and one can boil an egg while waiting for a command to action. In addition the Corel guide and one or two other facilities wont run but I'm assuming that this is because it is a trial version.

I was fully intending to purchase the programme but luckily I tried the trial version first, but I really would like to have the new version, so if any of the members can advise on problems listed above, I would be most grateful. Finally, for years I've tried to import my own photos etc into the Easy Pallette, from either Photoshop and other sources, but have been unable to do so. The image converters I've looked at on the net don't seem to deal with *uez or *upf extensions but again if there is a way, I'd love to know it. Sorry for the tome, hope you are still with me and haven't fallen asleep :)

Hi
and welcome to the forums....

The forum is staffed by volunteers not Corel employees so for the trial version install problems I would ask the question on the Corels Facebook account, your questions should be asked by Corel employees.

I have used MS3D in the past with little problems, but not installed at the moment...

I will install the trial version and let you know how I get on, also running Windows 7.

As for using images, I think you can add as a background, but will check on that, I have not used the program for a while, so a little rusty.
Hopefully other users may reply.

And no I haven’t fallen asleep as yet, but a little busy this afternoon.
Regards Trevor
