A Similar Program with UFOs and Grouping type Function?

A Similar Program with UFOs and Grouping type Function?

Postby sydness » Wed May 09, 2018 9:03 pm

I've been a loyal PI user for years, but I'm finally having trouble with windows 10. When I save a file via PI, it takes a good 3 minutes to show up as saved, and now, PI is not able to "see" some photos on my hard drive. Bummer!

So, I'd like to start familiarizing myself with a new program, as I really think my PI's days are limited. One of the things I love most about PI is the ability to create groups to store my UFO's. So, when I am working on a design, all the "pieces" are UFOs and they are all grouped together, which makes finding what I need soooooooo easy.

Is there another program out there that has anything similar to PI's groups? What program have others tried that is the most similar to PI?

Thanks!!

I have never used trays, nor groups but I think that the equivalent function in (Since this is a Corel forum) "Paint Shop Pro" is Trays.

I am still using Photoimpact on my computers including one which is Win 10. It does everything I need.

One of the significant aspects of PI is that AFAIK it is the only program which can produce, and at one time edit, UFO files. UFOs were developed by the original owner of PI -- Ulead -- for use amongst other things as the base format for menu templates in the then parallel Ulead program Video Studio. These days I am not sure whether that is still the case with the Corel versions of Video Studio, though given the age of many of its menu templates, even in the most recent versions of VS, it may still be the case.

The problem is, though, that I am not aware of any other program that can create UFO files apart from PI. Corel gave PaintShop Pro the ability several versions ago to at least be able to open UFO files. But PSP cannot save anything in the UFO format.
