Barely fit 2 hrs on 8.5gb?

Barely fit 2 hrs on 8.5gb?

Thinking I am missing something as I have not burned in a while. I have a 2 hour dance recital that bareley fits on a DL 8.5 disc. I confirmed my Project Properties were set to DVD. Am I missing something else? Thanks all.

You are not missing anything! A DL DVD holds a bit less then 2 hours of video at the best settings. If you want to put longer video on the DL, you have to reduce the bitrate which reduces the file size but also the quality. If you video duration is not much over 2 hours then the quality loss should not be noticeable.

The default DVD settings use a bitrate of 8000 kbps. So if you want to have a bit more space on the disc, lower the bitrate to say 7500 or even 7000 kbps. As canuck says, I'd be surprised if you noticed any drop in quality.

I also trust you have a burner which can handle 8.5 GB discs.

As sealilly probably shot his recital in HD, he will notice a great drop in quality in that SD DVD over his 65" screen...

55" over here, but you nailed it! I did not have this TV last June LOL. Should I have shot in SD if I am 100% the final product is only DVD?

No, you should just save it as two parts HD mp4 files that your screen can play.
