Countdown Timer for use with Video Studio or Media Studio.

Image

The Countdown timer was first mentioned in the Creative Cow Forum by Terry Stetler the Moderator of our Media Studio Forum.
http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/n ... tid=846757
Unfortunately the link to the timer appears to be broken and so you can download a copy from my website here:
http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... mecode.zip

Instructions on how to use with Video Studio:
1. First you have to copy the file to your VideoStudio vft_plug folder
(Normally c:\Program Files/Ulead Systems/Ulead VideoStudio 9.0).
2. Open Video Studio
3. Drag a clip to the timeline
4. Click the drop down box below the Video Studio 9 logo
Then select "Video Filter" A new one will be in the selection of thumbnails
"Timecode"
5. Drag the "Timecode" thumbnail onto the clip on your timeline.
6. At top left of your screen the attribute option is now displayed.
There is an option to "Customize Filter"
In addition to the obvious choices of font, colour etc, click on the preview screen the location you wish the timer to appear.
7. After dragging it onto the clip you will not see it work on the timeline preview.
To see it in action you have to click the "Share Tab" and then select
"Project playback"

Instructions on how to use with Media Studio:
1. Copy the file to your Media Studio vft plug folder
(Normally C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0\vft_plug)
2. Open Media Studio
3. Drag a clip to the timeline
4. Open the Video filter Tree and you will see one named Robotiq
This will contain the Timecode filter
5. Drag the “Timecode” thumbnail onto your clip
6. Under the effects manager click the spanner to bring up the customised dialog box. To place the timer where you wish it to appear just click on the preview screen.

Forum member Georg who is also the Administrator of the German Ulead User Forum has created a Tutorial in German for the Countdown timer and is available here:

This is very good.............. but I'm not sure why I need it!

What is it typically used for?

A few users have posted previously asking how to include a countdown timer
one example is this post:
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?t=10893

To be honest I forgot all about it but a couple of days ago I received a PM from Georg who told me the subject had cropped up again on the German forum and needed to know where my link to the timer was located.

Hello. I tried to do this with my Corel Videostudio pro x3, but I didn't know how to get it to work on in.
Can you please explain what the downloading steps are and how to get it to work for me?
Thanks.

Happy Taco, Welcome to the forums, :)

First this tutorial was done waaaayyy back with VS 9, and WinXP. I think the key to this plug-in is that it is not developed for any operating system beyond WinXP.

Check New Blue FX, I think it is in Video Essentials IV. Works great, much better than this one.
