Hi

Welcome to the forums

Very strange indeed, do you have any other Corel Video Studio versions installed? Although that should not make any difference, just curious.
Did you manage to run through some of the installation, then on the second attempt caused these errors?
Does your PC's Programs and Features list Corel VS X5?

Are you installing the program using Administrator rights.?

Hi...

1: I had ulead 11.0 installed which i uninstalled later.
2: I downloaded the trial version of CVS X5 a few days ago and it may not have installed properly as i left the desk for my lunch break :)
3: I came back and searched the computer for the program but could not find it.
4: I then downloaded it again and that is when the installation wizard gave me this message if i wish to uninstall cvs5 and its settings etc.

What can i do to fix this? I have searched the computer but the program is not there. Could it be that some elements of the program may be somewhere in the computer?

You may want to manually remove the incomplete install of VS X5, you can do that by following these steps.

Hi

Just don't know what to suggest, as you are using 64bit the files should be under the Program Files (x86) /Corel folder.

When searching, some files are hidden, you must select to show hidden files and folders to locate all files.

When you try to install, the file is extracted to a temp folder, for my pc it was here:-
C:Usres/User Name/AppData/Local/Temp/Corel Video Studio.....
These are used to install the program

After installation these files are deleted, if installation is terminated these files may not be removed.
Can you check the location, if they exist clean the temp folder, then try to re-install.

Have you considered a System Restore to before your lunch break

Just noticed the other post

Finally!!!!!!! I just had to clear the temp folder completely and the installation worked after that. :))

For anyone with the same problem please follow these step:

Go to start and type %temp% and hit enter to open the temp folder.
Once there select all files
delete
Note: System may not allow deletion of some files. Just press ingore when that happens.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi haider2026

Thanks for the feed back and glad you managed to finally install the program.

I had another problem running X5 on a 64 bit pc, the library files showed an error when selecting some of them, requesting a Re-Link.
I do not think this has been reported as a problem so it may be just my system.

If you have similar problems, run the program in XP Compatibility mode

I have now done five major projects using X5 on my new (and first) 64 bit system -- so far with no such problems!

Hi Ken

Thanks for that, the clips affected are Images....just to explain, selecting images from the X5 library requested a re-link, as you know the re-link window indicates the last know location, this showed it to be under Program Files, however the software installed to Program Files (X86). (64Bit)
I have just disabled XP Compatibility mode and the problem has occurred again......

Interestingly and i have just noticed this, it is looking for images in the X4 folder structure. Obviously I have X4 installed as well.

Even though I run through the re-link it does not work ..... with the clip still requires re-linking.

Once I had set the program to run in XP compatibility mode everything worked ok.

Very Strange......
