Edit Recorded Music Video

I am new to VSP X5. I want to edit a music video that I recorded live. The live recording of the music was fine but I need to cut and paste new video clips in certain part of the songs in the video timeline. I splitted the audio from the video. I am having a hard time trying to sync the audio because every time I cut the video clip, the video keeps snapping back, making audio out of sync. Also, when adding transitions, video clips automatic shrink. I tried enable ripple, video still snap back. Is there a setting in the preference? Any help would really appreciated. Thank you.

editing in the overlay track will keep the cut video sections in position
Drag the video down one track, it will show as a smaller version, click the preview screen to fit to screen, then Keep Aspect Ratio

With the main video in the top track
You could of course simply add the second video to the overlay track, (fit to Screen) this will cover the top video.
Use Directions and Styles, Attributes Tab below the library to Fade in Fade Out.
If you dont see it press the Options button lower right.

Virtually all of the transitions overlap the ends of the video by the length of the transition - that's the way they work so they can "transist" from one video to the next. The answer to your shortening problem is to make the inserted video longer by the time of two transitions, (assuming one each end) - true length will be restored when you add the transitions.
