Help with VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate

Postby trueblue on Fri Apr 27, 2012 11:44 am

I have just purchased VSPX5 Ult.

I am trying to use the Capture Screen feature when I choose full screen I receive an VSSCap Prepared Record Failed!!! I have tried to record full screen quite a number of times and I get this same error each time. There is a Resume button, which I thought if I click that the recording will resume. No it does not, it stops.

If I choose custom, yes, it records but not correctly. I only get a portion of what I want recorded.

Can anyone please suggest what I can do to rectify this before I need to go to Corel

Unfortunately Maureen we seem to have a number of users for who the screen capture does not work at all or it captures the wrong area - there are a number of topics in which users are complaining of problems - some also can capture image but not sound.

The screen capture bit is all brand new to us and I don't recall that anyone has solved the problem - it seems at the moment a call to Corel is the only possible solution we can offer as users.

Have you tried reducing the screen resolution?
No idea if it works, but it did with another app I was using a while ago.

I have that information under my name on the right Abiel.

I have two 24in monitors. Windows 7 64bit. VSX5Ult. has or should have been built with Windows 7 64 bit and wide screen monitors in mind.

SkieHughes, I reduced the resolution to 166x900 see if that works but it made no difference, I still get the error, it just will not capture full screen.

It does seem to me a monumental bug in VSPX5. This should be fixed asap and a patch or service pack issued for all those who purchased VSPX5.

Hi Maureen

We do seem to be having some problems with screen capture as Brian stated not just video but audio capture as well.

e_a_g_l_e_p_i posted here with some screen shots.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46067#p244774

are these similar to the effect you are experiencing?

I have tried in vain to replicate these capture problems using XP and Windows 7 but unable to do so.
Whether duel monitors has any bearing on the capture, Normally I use a single screen but did set up a duel monitors just to test, as you can guess no problems.

My last thoughts were regarding screen resolutions and setting larger window or icon views via the display properties, maybe setting different themes to the desktop rather than the defaults?

Certainly Corel needs to sort this one........I can only suggest you contact Corel Support.

I will continue to try difference things and obviously if i can replicate it i will shout out loud.

I assume you mean 1660x900, how about if you keep coming down?
How do you manage your two monitors? Are they cloned, one large monitor?
Are you trying to screen capture just monitor one/two or both monitors?

Lol, yes I miss off a '0'. 1660x900. I dislike having to reduce resolution so much as it messes everything up.

What I am doing is reducing the size of the programme so it fits within a custom area but overhangs either side and the lower edge. I manage to get everything in then. Not satisfactory at all, but it works, so far. I too am having problems with the sound. I may just have to return using my Camtasia, but even that has a problem with full screen recording and chopping off parts of the video images. I think it's because I have a wide screen. My two monitors are in dual mode and I can move from one to another. Not, cloned or as one monitor. When I select a monitor to record, I choose the one the programme is currently on, which is usually monitor 1.

I really did update to VSPX5 because of this feature, but sadly, a lot of people have forked out money for something that doesn't work as it should.

I stopped recieving this error message ( fail!!! #43 ) after I changed the option of saving my screen captures to the default folder, which in my case is a network I-drive, and created a folder for them in the local ( C ) drive. The product I bought is the "education" version of Pro X5, and I suppose other teachers may have the same issue.

Good Luck!

SO which are you doing: a video capture or a Screen capture( which is what this post is about)?
In your other rant you also did not make this clear.
