Modifying movie proportion

Postby HumpAhead on Mon Apr 16, 2012 8:40 am

Hello,

In VideoStudio Pro 4, I was able to modify the proportions of my movie : stretched it or squeeze it, in or out of proportion. I can't seem to do this in Video Studio Pro 5. It's ULTIMATE-ly frustrating ! Is this a bug ? A strategic omittance to promote the next "Hyper Super Ultimate" 6th version 6 ? Anyone knows a solution ?

you should be able to do just the same in X5 - put your video in an overlay track - click on it - and in the preview window drag the yellow or green blocks around to obtain the distortion you want.

Are you saying you can't do that or is it something different you used to do - can you explain in more detail what you used to do and what you are doing in X5.

Since this thread is about Video Studio, I am moving it to that forum...

Hi

The options to distort the video using X5 are the same as using X4.

How did you do it when using X4?

Thank you for your prompt replies !
Found something, but am scratching my head bald : can't really tell what the solution exactly is :

=>Parameters / Activate Large Sceen (16:9)
then =>Clip Attributs => Deform the clip (can't tell the exact term on the English screen)
then => Click right on the clip view => Adjust to the screen, or reinitialize deformation or conserve the proportion or original size. Here's the rub : I've the impression that what you see on the clip preview which seems to react to the option you clicked is not "remembered" when generating the output. So I just click crazy once or more in random order one one or more of these right-click options until the output gets right without understand what really happened.

And by the way, I feel that's it's absolutely silly to display "iphone","ipad", "ipod" options when what I really need to control is the proportion of the output for a larger "usefullness" than just boring "ipad","ipod","phone", idiotic limitations... I'm so pissed off I can't control an get a neat clean simple 16:9 output, or better : being able to define *MY* exact proportion or *ANY* trimmed size I want like 681px by 248px !!! Can be very useful to add into a Blender scene !

Thank you again.

I think I clicked right.. and got the options. I've uninstalled the version 4 to make room for the version 5. Maybe in Version 5 the default preferences aren't the same, and I needed to "activate" these options with "Parameters / Activate Large Screen" ??

Hi

I understand your frustration when things go wrong, but we are only here to help.
You seem upset that the program provides many MP4 options, indicating that you require a quality 16:9. then you mention 681 px by 248px? very strange sizes.
------------------------------------------
Please provide details of your original video file.
Right click a clip in the timeline and select properties, what are they.?

What exactly are you trying to make, a video for the internet or a DVD disc?

Do you wish to create a 16:9 video or one using 681 px by 248px?

The standard templates may not provide the sizes you require, Using Settings-Make Movie Templates Manager will allow you to customise and create your own templates.

If X5 is not preforming correctly then Re-Install X4 to see if it edits the files correctly.
