Keeping original audio and removing video track??

Postby route66teacher on Sat Mar 31, 2012 7:56 pm

Hi,

I want to keep the original audio captured with video footage but remove the actual video and replace it with other video footage taken and still images. I'm guessing that this is possible using the overlay track, but ideally, I would like to just remove the original video so that I can use two new images between the main track and other "images" on the overlay track. I have no need for the original video, just the audio. Is this possible? If not, is there any way to insert audio from video onto either a music or narration track scrap the video portion?

Hope I was able to properly explain what I'd like to do. Thank you in advance for your input.

If you want just the audio from a video clip in the timeline, then simply go to Share > Create Audio Clip. You will have a choice of formats but I suggest you choose standard .wav as that is the least problematic.

But you don't say which version of VS you are using. You talk about "the" overlay track, but if you have recent versions, then you will have at least half a dozen overlay tracks... So you could go that way too.

Quite easy to do - RIGHT click over you video in the timeline - from the pop-up which appears choose "Split Audio" - the audio will appear in the audio track, now delete your video in the video track and put whatever you want in the video tracks , top or overlay as you wish.

Yes, that works great. THANK YOU! It's the quick and accurate feedback here on this forum that makes the difference between Corel and the other video editing programs.
