Chroma key playback issue

Postby lb2288 on Tue Mar 20, 2012 4:05 am

When I add a JPG to the timeline, and then add green screen digital footage with audio on the overlay track,
the chroma key works and looks great, but when I playback the section, the overlay footage plays in slow motion,
while the audio plays normally.
I tried separating the audio from the video (talking head) and it plays at the right speed, but the video does not sync with the sound on playback. I tried speed adjustment. No luck. I triedThe green screen digital footage plays normally when I don't employ chroma key.
I've tried everything but to no avail. Perhaps I'm expecting too much from verson Pro X4. Or perhaps it's the file I'm downloading.
Source files:
Background: JPG image; Overlay: green screen MOV file (talking head, camcorder shoot, uploaded to dropbox then downloaded to my computer)
Is there something I can change to get it to work?

Can I just clarify what you are saying - the green screen .mov includes the audio ? - if that is so I cannot see how the audio can play at one speed and the image at another - or the audio is a separate track ? - in which case what is the frame rate of the .mov file.

Hi

Can you give the video properties of your mov file.
Right click the clip in the timeline and select properties, what are they?

It may be simply a playback problem, playing ok in Clip mode but struggling in Project Playback.
If you render the project to a new video file does that play ok.?

Trevor,
Here are the properties:
Movie size: 960-540
Duration: 7 seconds
Track counts: 1 video track, 1 sound track
Video track 1:
attributes: 24 bits, 960x540
total frames: 210
frame rate: 30 frames per sec
Duration: 7.000 seconds
start at: 0.000 seconds
Sound track 1:
Compression: 16-bit Little Endian
Attributes: 48.000 KHz, 16 bits, stereo
total samples: 336.336
duration: 7 seconds
start at: 0.000

I've rendered it 5 different times and almost as many different formats.
Thanks,
Lori

Lori,

For the videos you create with Share, are you sure that it isn't the last one to two seconds of the audio being cut off, and not that the audio is faster than the video.

If so, split the audio from the clip, then share the audio to a WAV file. Replace the audio on the timeline with the WAV file. Then try sharing to a video again. I think that will keep the last couple seconds from being cut off.

Hi Lori

And if the approach suggested by Kingston does not work.

When you create a video file disable Smart Render, does that improve the video.?

Share Create Video File-choose DV 16:9 – press the options button and deselect “smart render”

Thank you all. I have gone into earlier forum posts and found one regarding music that I applied to my green screen footage. I opened the sections in Windows Movie Maker and saved them with a new name, then I imported them into my video project. Voila. The audio and video played in sync, with the chroma key choice. But...I am trying all suggestions for further options. Thank you for your responses.
Regards , Lori :)
