Best DVD copy/burn software to combine with VS X4

Postby physioz on Thu Feb 02, 2012 8:13 pm

After a hiatus of a year,I am using VS X4 having previously used earlier iterations of the program. I have one copy of an old DVD made with VSP X2(?) and wish to make an additional copies. Corel support have indicated that in the past (up to VS X3) this would be easy as DVD Factory 2010 was included with VS.

I no longer have any of the earlier VS versions, so am looking for other software to use to not only do this (copy an old DVD) but perhaps to improve the DVD creation aspect of VS X4. Ease of use and compatibility are primary considerations for me . Suggestions will be welcome

Thanks

Dave

Since you are specifically looking for software other than Video Studio X4, I have moved your thread to this forum which is a more general one. In the VS forum, we prefer to discuss that product and discussion of other competing products is discouraged. It is, however, quite acceptable in this forum.

Since you have not said what is wrong with the authoring module in X4 it is impossible to suggest an alternative - what do you want to do that you can't do in X4 - The only other programme Corel do is DVD MovieFactory but that has basically the same authoring capabilities as VideoStudio.

In VideoStudio you can put the video on your DVD back in the timeline using the "Import Digital Media" option - then do any editing and then go to the Create Disc module and make your menus as you want them.

So what do you need that VideoStudio does not have ?

To just copy a dvd have a look at what other software you already have on your pc, lots come wiht things like nero or roxio preinstalled which will copy a dvd for you.

Brian - yeah, sorry it would seem that the limitations I had with with the menu capabilities were related to my own limitations rather than those of the software. With regard to copying the DVD, I tried various methods (other software/windows etc) including making a mirror image of the DVD (.iso) however all of them seemed to be 'unreadable' so I resorted to your suggestion of importing the whole DVD into the timeline and going from there - worked well. Thanks!
