Can we have the "Search" tool set by default for searching in the ASP section only. Then the "Advanced search" where we can search within any Corel software if we want.
Thx.

You do realize that once you are in the AfterShot section, the search automatically restricts itself to that area? This is standard phpBB functionality.

hi all,

i just got this message when i wanted to look at a thread on my other computer:

Corel User to User Web Board wrote:
"The board requires you to be registered and logged in to view this forum."

not funny. please, do something about it. keeping knowledge restricted to insiders might be elite but it's not good public relations.
thanks.

Were you logged in on your OTHER computer - you must log in on every computer you use

As a registered and logged in user ALL visible forums are available to you - if you tell us which topic you could not access then we can investigate why you cannot see it but until you provide further information we cannot help.

nope, everything with the message is alright..

but why are you keeping this forum so exclusive that you have to register AND login to see things? i mean, this is not a place that is restricted to adult content, nor is it a beta-forum with NDA-restrictions or something similar. this is a place to HELP OTHER PEOPLE. so i question the policy of restricting knowledge. how would you feeld if you had to register and login everytime you want to look something up at google, bing, wikipedia, your newspaper, etc?

edited to emphasize important things.

Every single forum I have ever visited requires that you register and log in before you can post - it means people know who you are and that you are a bona-fide member - and we can keep control over the hundreds of spammers who try and post their unwanted adverts etc in the forum. The information is not restricted or withheld - you should be able to read any posts without logging in - in fact at this very moment the information shown at the foot of the index page is that 57 Guests (un registered viewers) are browsing these forums.

similarly anyone can register and post providing they follow the rules. And to take up your point about Wikipedia and your newspaper - you are not allowed to contribute to any of them without registering first

and you still haven't said which threads you cannot access.

i think grubernd is reffering to the fact that the forum is only visible if you're logged in

if i log out, all i see if i visit http://forum.corel.com/EN/
is

This board has no forums.

thereby forcing you to register to read.

Maybe it's a misconfiguration, as i think it wasn't that way 2 weeks ago
at least google was able to see the forums some hours ago:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... ent=ubuntu

so please admins, check the configuration.

Thank you spoilerhead - thats all we needed to know - something has obviouly happened to the configuration and now we know what to look for. It was misleading to note that the forum log shows 75 guests browsing the forums at the moment - but I have confirmed if logged out you cannot see the forums so we'll look into it.

All the bots (like google etc.) are registered users so can access all posts at all times

This is not the case for me. If I want to restrict to the AfterShot forum, I must use the 'Advanced search' every single time.
According to BrianCee's reply, I understand that it is the way they want it. (see his reply 1 notch above yours).

We believe we have now corrected the configuration fault and everyone should now be able to VIEW all forums without logging in - but any attempt at posting will take you to the log-in screen

Don't use the general search at the top right, but the one to the left by the section name. It has "Search this forum..." in it. That automatically restricts the search.

Good. Is there a trick also for the "View new posts" to restrict it to the ASP forums, too?
