Free gift at registration ?

Postby 2Ben on Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:24 am

Hi all,

Just bought and registered ASP (Bibble user), and when I entered my serial number, a pop-up asked me to register, mentioning a free gift upon registration, and a link. I click the link, register... But no mention of any gift anywhere.

Not to look too stingy, but well, a promise is a promise, is it not ?

Hi Alban,
I had the same popup .... also waiting for the gift!
What should it be ?
What can we expect ?
Maybe we get one of the Windows-only products for free ... but how to use it on my Linux ?

Cheers

As a newcomer to these forums you perhaps have not noticed that at the top it says "User to User Web Board" and it is just that - it is not an official way to contact Corel - one or two Corel employees do post on here occasionally - but not in an official capacity - every one else is just a user trying to help other users - so - although I understand your concern you need to contact Corel support direct via the Corel website - there is nothing any one on here can do to help you.

Based on my experience with Corel using PSP and Video Studio the bonus material (however worded) is usually a "huh, that's nice" type thing and not a "oh wow, I never knew this was possible" type thing or "this should already be part of the product" type thing. It does sometimes border on "why did they even bother" type of a thing, but not usually totally in that neighborhood.

I hope my unhelpful post helps somewhat. (example of "huh, that's nice")
Regards, Dan

Have you checked your email? "Free gift upon registration" are usually registration incentives that you can download from the link that will sent via email.

is that a bit like the "Are you a Mac user" link on the corel.com front page that links you to offers for PSP which is windows only
old Bibble user
Hmm is that (old) Bibble user or (old Bibble) user?

FWIW, when I bought ASP the other day, the Corel site gave me the details, SN and download link for ASP and the manual. It promised an email with the same information. But that has never arrived (and yes, I checked my spam folder, though Corel messages usually get through in normal mail to me). So I have never received any offer of a free gift on registration.

Moreover, I was already signed into my longstanding Corel account when I bought the product. After installation, I installed the SN which was accepted and ASP's splash screen now shows me as the registered owner. However, when I go into my account and look at all my registered products, ASP is not among them. And when I try to "Register New Product", when I enter the SN, it returns an error message saying the SN is not in the prescribed format. I tried taking out the dashes between the groups of letters and numbers, but got the same message.

So for me it's no gift and no apparent registration!!

Hi,

as far as I remember (it´s already 2 days ago :? ) I had no trouble with the whole stuff.

Copied the S/N from the web-shop page into the "unlock ASP" dialog ... entered my name which I used in the web-shop ... fine.
Then (I think it was when I started it the next time) a dialog asked me to register the product ... I clicked "not yet ... later".
The next start the annoying dialog asked again for "registration" .... and I did so .... and also saw the "there will be something for free for you .... " message.
After registration I got an eMail "Thank you for registering your software!" with some links to free-trial versions of several Corel products ... but I guess this is not really a gift since they are free for everybody ?!

But it´s O.K. .. I did not spent the money on ASP to get a gift which might run on WIN only :( ... so useless for me ... but for ASP, which I have up and running after adding the missing "libstdc++.so.6" to ASPs private lib-folder.

cheers

Could it be that the vigne plugin is the gift for registration? I think I read something like that. But despite registration, there never arrived a download link for that. :|

Edit: found it again here: http://www.aftershotpro.com/plugins/ind ... plug=vigne
This plugin is free with Corel User Registration.

But note what it says on that link:
We will email all those that have registered with the latest version of Vigne once it is available.

Ah! That explains a lot, that wording was not on the page initially.
