In PSP X4, as in previous versions, there are the options of Full Screen Edit (I think that's the designation) and also Tabbed Edit. In X4, though, a change has been made so that in the Tabbed Edit mode the image can be zoomed, but the frame remains the same size. in former versions this was not the case: the frame zoomed along with the image. I am told by one of your representatives that this alteration was made so that PSP would behave like Photoshop. To me this is a huge mistake. I have used PSP since the Jasc days, and have never gone back to Photoshop because it is maddeningly counter-intuitive - and this, I think, is another instance of Photoshop's weirdness. I can't see any logical reason not to zoom the frame along with the image. The way it is now, one has to go to Fit Image to Window or Fit Window to Image every time one zooms. I would like the old way back, and would suggest thinking seriously before trying to imitate Photoshop.

I have to agree with insight on the zoom thing. One function that I use all the time is the scroll wheel to zoom in and out whilst cloning. I'm not very keen on the way X4 zooms in one a fixed point (I think this is what insight is talking about). I have become so used to being able to start a zoom in the corner and having the image automatically scroll in the window to fit my zoomed section (I hope I'm explaining this properly!). Now in X4 I have to use the side scroll bars to zoom into parts of the image which are off screen/centre.

I agree with most suggestions here but the main thing I would like for Corel to do in future versions is to just make it more stable, rather than changing the workflow. We've all spent a long time learning how to use this and changing little things is nothing more than an irritation. I have no great desire for PSP to emulate PS so why try!
The reason most of us use Paint Shop is because it is better at doing most things, and far more logically laid out.

This is because the layer in no longer in focus even though it is still highlighted, if you click the layer in the layer palette you can then use the layer menu. Just adds an additional step, but don't know why this was changed. You can't add any affects to vector text without clicking on it in the layer palette for that same reason, it's no longer in focus.

A setting on the Scratch Remover tool to Use All Layers would be useful.

A couple of things i would think might be useful:

- angled guidelines. I dont know how it can be done, but if a guideline could be rotated or placed at a specific angle, it would be great for aligning elements (or text) in a different way
- a way to angle textures, in the Texture effect and in the Sculpture effect. It is available in the Material properties, so i think it should be easy enough to place in the other effects.

I wish....
- for the histogram not to change when setting the levels in an adjustment layer. Currently the first run of the Levels Adjustment Layer displays color histograms correctly. After adjusting the settings, closing the dialog and then reopening the histograms are stretched. This makes it hard to evaluate and edit the original settings.

- for adjustment layers that display histograms to display a histogram for the currently visible layers below the adjustment layer. Currently it appears to display only the histogram for the layer directly below. (test this by placing a levels adjustment layer above any other adjustment layer and reviewing the histogram.)

- for the RGB histogram in the levels dialog to update with the settings made to the Red, Blue and Green levels settings. (check by comparing the histogram palette to the rgb levels histogram after setting the red, blue, and green level settings)

I don't want PSP to look like its competitors but some tools or features ideas can surely be taken from them (wouldn't it be nice if we could get the best of both worlds?). Anyways, i got PSE as a gift and one feature i like about it is the "Place" command. Instead of opening an image, copying it, closing it, pasting as a new layer on the active project (making it 4 steps), in PSE, there is ONE command that is called Place. It will open the image ONTO the current work area. That would be a time saver! Is it already a tool in X4 that i might not have found?

I'm a pro photographer and I have just a few things to say

1/ keep it lightweight, avoid the temptation to eat CPU% and RAM with bloatware nobody really needs
you have a nicely styled intuitive interface that kicks the cr@p out of PS legendary 'where do you get it' cloistered menus
Lighweight processing engines are fast, and people appreciate that more than a hit list of features that marketers prefer.
If I spend 2 mins processing an image in a day, thats 200 mins or 3.3 hours processing I never get paid for.
Reducing that 25% is a big and important deal. This is why I still use PSP X instead of newer versions

2/ one of the greatest utilities about PSP interface is using the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out of an image,
do not ever let that go it is the single best thing about PSP bar none

3/ another thing to maintain is .8bf compatibility, it helps you keep your software capability up to date when the supplied tools begin to look a little old,
I use things like Imagenomic NR and Nik sharpener, when the next best plugin arrives I shall probably get that too

4/ another thought, RAW conversions via an .8bf plugin,
in this way you can do some trade with PS users who are being skinned alive by Adobe over their update pricing policy
Everytime a photographer gets a new camera (usually because he must), he has to wait for RAW support to catch up,
and probably has to buy the upgrade vers of an application just to stay current with his/her competitors

5/ You guys would be well served offering a Mac capable version of your software, check this thread out
see how old it is, how people obviously found it via a search engine, and actually joined the board just to have their say
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=167822

honourable long term users there going to waste looking for an alternative on mac platforms,
.........and not finding it,
I would have gone mac years ago if I could take PSP with me, sad sad sad

i would like to see animation shop returned in all versions, though 3.11 is easily located whever you look/ask on psp user websites. saving pspimages so they are compatible with psp 7 makes all usable in animation shop 3.01, 3.10 and 3.11. also, i'd like to see corel add an "out of active support" update site to get the needed updates that were originally provided when they were under support. right now i need to update x2, but no site has it.

A couple of things I'd like to see:

1. I've seen this complaint on the board somewhere else. The ability to disable "Tabbed Documents" until I enable it. This is the single most frustrating "feature" (for me) in PSP 4. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason when it switches to Tabbed Documents, but it drives me nuts.

2. Wider scroll bars.

3. Having circles, arrow heads, etc. start where I want them to start instead of some offset. (Maybe that's available now but I can't find it.) Let's say I have an item in a picture that I want to highlight with a red circle. When I use the circle tool, I have to try several times to get the circle to enclose the item correctly. It is always drawn at an offset from where I want it to start. Same thing with an arrow head. If I pick the line tool/arrowhead at the start, I want the arrow head tip to be where I place the cursor, not a guess where it will end up.

4. Ability to customize the workspace color. I'm color blind and the new, recent patch color options are very difficult to see.

1. I love the tabbed version but that's personal preference
2. Personal preference - but on a small monitor with lots of palettes open you need all the image you can see.
3. You can move a poorly positioned artefact like an ellipse using the PICK TOOL
4. You can customize your workspace in File>Preferences>General Preferences AND View>Workspace Color

Ditto ditto.
The Tabbed Documents thingie drives me complete nuts, I hate it with a passion. (I can be very passionate when I don't like something :-))
In previous versions the user could Restore Down, but now you can't. It's a stupid 'improvement'!
Wider scrollbars would be good, they used to be wider...
