No Preview

Postby RalfA on Fri Dec 09, 2011 7:31 pm

Hello,

I have a problem with the preview in PSP X4. In the manage view, I see no preview. A reinstall did not solve the problem. Does anyone know a solution?

My system: Windows 7 64bit, Intel Core i7

Kind Regards
Ralf

Not sure I quite understand your question. If you are saying you can't see the organizer, click on View/Palettes/Organizer (or Shift F9). If you cannot see in the main area an image you have selected from the organizer, then I don't have an answer.

There is indeed a malfunction with what you're seeing. To have that large of an image zoomed to 14% should show you a lot of gray workspace around an actual image.

Try resetting the workspace. Hold the shift key while double clicking the desktop icon to run the program (or find the root program that the shortcut in the Start menu leads too). But back up your workspace first in case that's not the problem. Shift+Alt+S. If resetting your workspace doesn't work you may need to reinstall.

I had the same problem on my Dell XPS L502x (a laptop with both an intel video chip for low-power use and an nvidia chip for 3d/games) and was able to solve it by forcing PSPX4 to use my nvidia chip. The first clue that it was video card related was that PSP was acting like the image was loaded (e.g. scroll bars change with zoom level) despite nothing being displayed. I hope this helps!

Hello

I am experiencing the exact same problem where I cannot preview a picture image on MANAGE.

It started happening after I played a video through PSP x4, and since then, MANAGE will no longer allow me to view JPEG, TIFF, etc etc files. I can only preview MOV. formats in MANAGE.

I have reinstalled, but this has not fixed the problem.

My system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, Intel Pentium

Is anyone able to help me?

Cheers

I am having the exact same problem on 2 different laptops. Both Windows Home Premium 64, but both different brand laptops with different hardware.

The preview section of the screen shows the picture name, and a zoom icon, but absolutely no picture, just a gray area. This is with the 30 day trial of course,

sad thing is I just bought the program before I realized this so it will be here in about a week, hope this problem can get resolved as it's a gift for my lady.

Just to add, I reset the libraries as suggested, installed the SP1, ran as administrator, ran in compatibility mode, tried my graphics drivers, etc.

I believe this may be a problem with Windows 7 x64, as all of our computers run it but completely different hardware and it's doing it on all of them.

How can we get help for this issue?

Hello

Sorry for late reply...have been on holiday to SE Asia and it was incredibly hooot, so a vast difference from the -35C in Poland (OMG!!)

Unfortunately I have not been able to work out this issue. I did start to write a comment to my local Corel contact (AUS) but it was such a tedious process and lots of questions that needed to be answered that I gave up. I will however follow this up and if they are able to enlighten us with a fix, I will be sure to post it here.

Its extremely frustrating so I hope that someone can find a fix. It shouldnt be that difficult....should it?!

If anyone from Corel reads this post....PLEASE HELP!

Thanks
:)

I have the same problem with my new Dell computer.. I have a problem report submitted to Corel Support but haven't been given any GOOOOD information on how to fix it. I'll keep looking at this post for information.

Working with Corel Support they had a work-around for the problem. Close Paintshop Pro X4 and then right click on the desktop shortcut and choose properties. Under compatibility put a check mark into "Disable desktop composition" and press apply. This fixed the problem but it's not the final answer.

On further investigation, I found a driver update (R295) for my NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M graphics card. After applying the update and enabling "desktop composition", I opened up Paintshop X4 and it worked fine!!!! The problem is with the drivers, not with Corel!

Hope this is helpful to all of you with this problem!

Hello Dirtwaterfox!

Thank you SO much for your post. I have gone into the properties and selected the "Disable desktop composition" and I can now view my images in MANAGE again!!

I will also look at the updating driver issue you suggested as well.

I hope it solves all the other Users problems, as it did mine.

Thanks again for investigating the problem and getting a solution!!
