Movie Factory 7 SE

Postby ZL52 on Wed Apr 13, 2011 8:28 pm

Having gone through the posts for Movie Factory 7 SE I have just attempted to download the manual PDF from the following web address. http://cid-7b0b9c5b899c50fa.skydrive.li ... Manual.pdf
I received a lovely list of geek numbers. Not a lot of use. Has anybody produced a manual or, even better, a tutorial? I know that these have been available for other Corel/Ulead applications.
I am having problems creating a title. I have gone through the necessary moves to the point of getting what appears to be a clear screen with my own 'photo as the background and a yellow border frame which I take to be the outer limit of the title box.
From there everything goes haywire. I am instructed to double click for text but with no success. By double clicking around inside the frame I did find an area in which I can type but then as soon as I attempt to do anything with the area, or elsewhere, the text disappears and I'm unable to access it again. Eventually it reappears for no apparent reason. I will be wanting to add some chapter points but I've not tried creating any chapters as I've been unable to progress further. From going through the MF7 posts it appears that the chapters have to be input to the video in MF7 as those installed in the original video are voided whilst editing in MF7. Is this so?
Many thanks for any help that can be offered.

You know that you brought up something that I've never thought of, and that is the lack, I mean a complete and total void of tutorials for DVD MF 7. There were some back when Ulead was around. If I can muster some time, I may try to put a couple together.

Anyway to your first problem, the text (title), and not video clip (title).. ;) I think with the SE version you're not going to have much luck with adding your own text. If I'm thinking correctly, you're in the Edit Room, and double-clicking on the preview window to add your text. In the following screen-shot it shows why this may not be working:

The SE version does not have the Time-line view. This was apparently disabled in the SE version, why? Don't know, should have been left in. So when you double-click to add your text, it should go into the title track, which is not really there in your SE version.

You're correct that Chapter Names are not maintained in the video files, created in VS. I have found that the Chapter Marks can be seen by DMF, as Scenes. You would go to the Add/Edit Chapter, then Auto Add Chapters, and if the Chapter Marks are there, the Insert scenes as chapters radial button should be active, select it. DMF should then add them as chapters, leaving you to name them.

Many thanks for that, Ron. I'll spend a bit more time on it and see where I get. Roy.
