Media Studio0 Pro 8 and all other Ulead software users

Postby DSHolloway on Sat Jan 23, 2010 1:38 pm

I have been busy with other activities over the past year and have recently returned to video editing. As I feared on the news that Corel had taken over Ulead's video software that it would be the end of their range with Corel taking the best of the features, coming out with their own software and ceasing support. I have also been a user and purchaser of Corel products for some twenty plus years before retirement.

Recently I changed from XP to Win 7 and have been unable to get Media Studio Pro 8 to run - have asked Corel and not had a straight answer other than that product (and others) is not supported, surprise surprise! Have expressed my feelings to the MD of Corel in Canada about Ulead licenced users treament and the fact they have not been offered any form of compensation but have not had the courtesy of a response.

Oddly though, I have been able to get DVD Movie Factory 6 Plus to work in Win 7 - not sure why this product is running and supported - perhaps it is because Corel cannot better it.

Any help from Ulead users in regard to Pro 8 and Win 7 would be appreciated. :( [/b]

I heard once that Corel is a place where software go to die.
I stuck to WinXP because I am still happy using Ulead Media Studio and Ulead DVD Workshop 2. Plus the fact that both my PCs have the ATI, A-I-W, Radeon 9800 Video capture card which is a WinXP drivers dependent.

Tend to agree with you re Corel - having my doubts about the switch to Win 7 - non compatibilty seems to crop up with quite a lot of my software -otherwise Win 7 appears to be better than XP from the short time I have been using it. Hope the weather in Malta keeps fine for May as I shall be visiting relatives.

Slightly on the cold side (17C) at the moment but mostly sunny. By May you'll probably be tempted to go for a swim. Enjoy your visit :)

Have looked at the procedure re Ulead Media Studio Pro 8 working with Win 7 - the procedure refers to Vista, does it also apply to Win 7. Have been advised to give Ulead software a miss now that Corel have given up support - better I m told to go to Adobe - more reliable and will not fail their customers as Corel have done. In fact I was considering upgrading my Corel Draw 13 but will now stick to what I have - got to make a stand against Corel's cavalier attitude in this respect!
My one regret is that having got to grips with Media Studio Pro I now have to learn another package. :(

Sorry but my hard drive with Windows 7 beta is sitting in a drawer somewhere, I still prefer XP it does everything I want and so have no reason to swap to Windows 7.

Have you considered a dual boot system?

Win 7 & Ulead Media Studio Pro 8

Postby DSHolloway on Wed Feb 03, 2010 5:14 pm

I am considering either, as you suggest a dual boot using a separate in -built second HD, or going for the Win7 version which runs XP as well, that is if I can upgrade from Win 7 Home Premium. Dual boot is the cheaper option.

Hello hope this is the correct place post this....
I have a problem while loading MSP6.5 and recently I purchased the MSP 7 but have the same problem, the program stops loading while creating the sound libraries, almost to the end (85% )of the load of the program, i repeat this is when loading the program, I tried installing onto another of my computers where i used to have the program before but with the same results, i now loaded MSP 7 and even deleted MSP6.5 but have the same problem, after a few seconds the program stops responding and I need to do the End Task procedure. hope some one can help .
Thank You.

You really need to start a new thread for this, otherwise it might not be seen.

Your problem is being caused by a rogue DirectX filter - probably installed by a game or sound editing application. If you leave it long enough, it should get past the 85% mark (I've known it to take a day).

Thank You Gorf...
I am going to try leaving the computer on all night long after loading the program MSP7 with no interruptions to see if it works, if not than I will start a new thread so more people can see at it.
Thanks again. JoeGRuiz.
