Digital Studio 2010

Postby terry dennis on Thu Sep 03, 2009 10:54 am

I have just had an email from Corel on the above topic , just done a search on it in this User Web Board but found nothing.

Does anyone know anything about this product ? Is it an alternative to VS11+ ? Is it more basic than VS11+ ? .................... or what ?

Hi Terry

Found some info on the Corel site
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 5942755341

Its not a dedicated video editor and as such will not replace Video Studio.

Its more of a multi media package, Video creation seems to be limited to templates or movie styles.
Similar to using VS Movie Wizard I would assume.

Sorry Terry

Found a little more info, the package above uses Video studio Express 2010

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 5942755405

Still a simple video editor

I have DVD Workshop Express (now obsolete). It was the cheaper "lite" version.

I see they are using a similar naming scheme with Paint Shop Photo Express.

Nope, not really, It may be months before Corel gets around to releasing another version. They would have to go through the Alpha and Beta testing, not to mention just developing it. Corel has a page that lists any Beta programs, where a person could enlist in beta testing for them. However currently it only shows that Word Perfect Office is in Beta testing...Beta Program

Since Corel took over Ulead, they have recently released some versions to specific regions of the world. For example DVD MF 7 is not available here in the US, along with VS Pro Ultimate. PI X3 was not made available in the UK..

I've posted a thread in the Corel News forum, you can view it HERE

Downloading trial NOW 887MB!!

Seems to be a fair bit of info on Corel Website now.

Is this the replacement for Video Studio? Or maybe the next release of the Video Studioo Express to Video Studio PRO ??

Seems a little too close in naming conventions to Video Studio X2 Pro?

Don't think so, as these Express versions seem to be cut-down, template based programs. If so, Corel would be taking a huge step backwards, like clear back to VS 2 maybe???

It's a cut down program for novice users that combines simple video and still image editing and cataloguing.
It also has a user interface that can be easily used on touch screen monitors. These will probably proliferate after the introduction of Windows 7.

What a mess!

Postby ruggy1 on Sat Sep 05, 2009 1:55 pm

Just wasted a whole evening downloading 880MB of this stuff. After loading it said may hardware, which is up to date, was not good enough to support DirectX v7. Even though it said this it let me start each of the modules, which seem all much the same to me, except WINDVD, which crashed every time I started it. 2 hours later I still had some manager program running at 100% in the background. I think it was trying to collect photos, videos, music etc, but this should have been done reasonably quickly. Eventually it found the 3 videos I had on the disk, but only played the sound, not the video in each one. After a quick glance, it appears to try to do all things for everyone, but not one of them successfully. I will hang on to MF5 and VS10 for a whole lot longer.
MF2, MF3, MF4, MF5, VS7, VS10+, VS12, Nero Vision Express. Ricoh and Sony 16x DVD recorder, Sony HC5 High def camera. Also Canopus ADVC110 for AV/DV input through firewire
