VideoStudio: Rendering for You Tube.

A few times I have seen members ask how to render their videos to be used on You Tube. hope the following may assist by showing one method that can be used (You can of course use other methods.)

The suggested video format for YouTuBe should be MPEG-4, not MPEG3.

To render your video to MPEG-4, first you need to download the DivX codec pack from http://www.divx.com , then in VS go to the Share tab, select Create Video File to create an 320x240 AVI file with the DivX codec and MP3 audio.

I have created a template for creating my videos to be used on You Tube.
The following screen shots should show how to set up the template and the settings I have used. My settings are PAL, you will have to make minor alterations if you use NTSC.

When I came to the 'compression' part of your EX. tutorial up popped a reference to 'DIVX6.5.1
I can only suppose I must have downloaded this when following the divx Instrs. ( as this is the version I've now got)
Question: will this still be OK to use with reference to the'MPEG4 FOR YOU TUBE' or will I need to 'download' XVI MPEG-4

Click the drop down list to see if you have Xvid. If not then Yes, that is the correct codec for you to choose.

In fact I have created a few purpose built templates two of which use the
DivX 6.4.0 codec. The steps are the same as above.

(see the image a couple of posts up and just above the one showing Youtube you will see the other two I created - both with DivX)

Hi Steve, some images on ImageShack.us are not viewable. Are them deleted by accident?

The pictures are still present. The problem with Imageshack (A free hosting service) is that the pictures are sometimes very slow to download especially at peak demand periods.

If an image fails to load, try right clicking and selecting view image.
This should force the browser into downloading it again.

So I followed this and when I try to play it in Windows Media Player I get an error, this pin cannot use the supplied media type error number 8004022A. Any ideas?

That is normal, windows Media Player does not play MPEG4 DivX or Xvid files.
Don't worry though, they will play in your browser from You Tube.
Take a look at this one as an example

This was created in the manner described in this thread.
To play the original file on you PC rather then via the internet, you need to install a DivX player

If you are using VS11 all you have to do is select
Share
Create video file
mpeg4
and Ipod mpeg4.
There is two ipod settings. the fisrt one will give you a smaller file.
Thats all i done anyway and i have up loaded quite alot.
If you search youtube for Hambonep88 and wateva94 on youtube you will
see the ones i have uploaded.
I do not have divx on my computer.

Why not post some links to your videos in our Members Samples Forum.

Remember- there are always several ways to cook an egg
Boiled, scrambled, fried, poached etc. The same goes for videos.
What is important is that you find something that works for you.
