Edge Line Artifact on Output

Postby klaxian on Sat Jun 02, 2012 10:26 pm

I'm noticing a strange artifact when exporting certain files. There is a vertical line of a few pixels on the left edge that doesn't match the rest of the photo. This is not present in the RAW original, but exported JPGs and TIFFs show the problem. Only certain images actually produce this artifact, but it is consistent for the ones that do. You can see an example below. Look closely. Viewing on a black background makes it more apparent.

Any idea how to fix or prevent this? It's more pronounced when viewing the images at a larger size or printing. Thanks.

Cropping the image away from the left side before exporting seems to prevent the issue, but that shouldn't be necessary.

I have attached a version on a black background that makes it easier to see. Click to see a larger version.

Whoops. I guess this has been a known bug for a long time :(

there are two incarnations of this bug: one with NoiseNinja and one with CA correction. *sigh*
use the Monkey to report bugs - include as much precise information as you can provide!

Yup, I have begun noticing this with CA correction too. Unfortunately, the workaround of enabling Wavelet doesn't seem to fix the problem with CA correction. I reported it on the Monkey, but it seems like this has been a known issue for a long time and hasn't been resolved.
