It seems Adobe does this too. Recently I posted a question on the Lightroom forum and got multiple very helpful responses from trshaner. It seems like he is a LR developer or works in some other capacity at Adobe:

By the way, I was quite satisfied with his help.

I just installed a new SSD in my computer and downloaded a new trial copy of AfterShot. The download version is 1.0.1.10. The version that I had been using since AfterShot came out was 1.0.0.39. Is the new trial copy the updated software or should I be looking for something else?

Nope, he's just an end-user.

But yes, several Adobe staff regularly contribute to the Lr forum, and there are several Phase One employees who frequently post on the Capture One forum.

Makes a big difference to the user experience, doesn't it?

Just downloaded and installed it. Painless. I hope the folks at Bibble / ASP can show those at Corel how they do customer relations.

Well done folks.
