customToolsUI.txt

Postby grubernd on Tue Jan 24, 2012 9:11 am

since i couldnt find any similar post elsewhere on this board, here is my current customToolsUI.txt :

Code: Select all
# ----- grubernd 2012-01-06

# ----- this part rebuilds the default tabs
Standard, Std, Histogram.ui
Standard, Std, BasicTools.ui
Standard, Std, Presets.ui
Color, Color, Advanced/Curves.ui
Color, Color, ColorBalance.ui
Color, Color, Advanced/WhiteBalance.ui
Color, Color, Advanced/ColorManagement.ui
Tone, Tone, Advanced/Exposure.ui
Detail, Dtl, Advanced/Sharpen.ui
Detail, Dtl, Advanced/RAWNoise.ui
Detail, Dtl, Advanced/NoiseNinjaRegistered.ui
Detail, Dtl, NoiseNinjaStandard.ui
Detail, Dtl, Advanced/LensCorrection.ui
Metadata, Meta, Metadata.ui
Metadata, Meta, Keywords.ui

# ----- custom arrangement of plugins
SB FT, SB FT, sph.SiliconBonk
SB FT, SB FT, sph.FatToni
Wavelet, WDS, sph.waveletdenoise
Wavelet, WDS, sph.waveletsharpen
BlackWhite, BW, com.corel.BlackAndWhite
BlackWhite, BW, tin.tin.zchannelmixer

# ----- rarely used
More, M, afx.mathBox
More, M, sph.grain

# ----- stuff i am not interested in, goes into the last tab
Stuff, S, SelectiveColor/SelectiveColorWidget.ui
Stuff, S, MirrorInvert.ui

the file goes into your user folder of ASP, look in the preferences, General where that is.
as you see it can contain empty lines and commented lines starting with "#".

the two words before the tool/plugin identifier are for the Large and Small Views (prefs, Display, use smaller fonts and icons) respectively.
EDIT: find all the tool/plugn identifiers of your current install in the menu under >> Help >> System Info.

enjoy,
grubernd

Thanks for that, grubernd. As a newbie to ASP/Bibble I was wondering how to take the plunge and try setting up customToolsUI.txt to configure my workspace. I am used to PSP which allows great flexibility.

Does your file include all the 'default' facilities provided by Corel/Bibble?
Presumably if we want to add anything (ie plugins), we have to edit the text file in order to install them?

i even rebuilt the original toolorder (except for the Color Correction tool, which i dont like) in that file, so you get a good starting point.

newly installed plugins will show up in a new tab called "Plugins 1", just like now.
any of the default tools you do not put into some place of the file will show up at their original tab.

you cant miss a tool. no hidden stuff. =)

Does anyone know if it is possible to split out all the "Standard" functions into separate items in other tabs?
I see that Grubernd uses "Advanced/..." Are all the "Standard" BasicTools entries defined this way?

No, you can not split up a tool, you can only use the tools as defined (unless you start Qt UI files hacking).

grubernd provided a good starting point indeed.

Here is my customToolsUI.txt for re-arranged interface.
I prefer longer names for my tabs.
The first tab includes several "advanced controls" (Exposure, Color Balance, White Balance) so that "Basic Adjustements" can be almost ignored.
It may suit someone else or give more ideas.
Code: Select all
# All tools from BasicTools with advanced controls
Basic, Base, Advanced/Exposure.ui
Basic, Base, ColorBalance.ui
Basic, Base, Advanced/WhiteBalance.ui
Basic, Base, Keywords.ui
# Minimized, I use the EXIF Viewer instead
Basic, Base, Metadata.ui
# Minimized, almost everything is included above
Basic, Base, BasicTools.ui

Curves / Presets, Cv/Pr, Histogram.ui
# Curves with option "Before"
Curves / Presets, Cv/Pr, Advanced/Curves.ui
Curves / Presets, Cv/Pr, Presets.ui

Noise / Sharpen, Ns/Sh, sph.waveletdenoise
Noise / Sharpen, Ns/Sh, sph.waveletsharpen
Noise / Sharpen, Ns/Sh, sph.grain
# Minimized

Just a note that Help>System Info gives a list of your installed plugins with their identifiers.

I presume (as I haven't tried it yet) that any plugins you omit from customToolsUI.txt will still appear in Plugins1, 2, etc. tabs (as they did previously in Bibble).

Regards

Rick.

I've been using the customToolsUI.txt for a while and wonder about some anomalies. This is the text.

Code: Select all
# ----- grubernd 2012-01-06

# ----- this part rebuilds the default tabs
Standard, Std, Histogram.ui
Standard, Std, BasicTools.ui
Color, Color, Advanced/Curves.ui
Color, Color, ColorBalance.ui
Color, Color, Advanced/WhiteBalance.ui
Color, Color, Advanced/ColorManagement.ui
Tone, Tone, Advanced/Tone.ui
Tone, Tone, Advanced/Exposure.ui
Detail, Dtl, Advanced/Sharpen.ui
Detail, Dtl, Advanced/RAWNoise.ui
Detail, Dtl, Advanced/NoiseNinjaRegistered.ui
Detail, Dtl, NoiseNinjaStandard.ui
Detail, Dtl, Advanced/LensCorrection.ui
Metadata, Meta, Metadata.ui
Metadata, Meta, Keywords.ui
Metadata, Meta, Keywords/KeywordSets.ui
Metadata, Meta, Keywords/SimpleKeywordSetsWidget.ui

# ----- custom arrangement of plugins
SB FT, SB FT, sph.SiliconBonk
SB FT, SB FT, sph.FatToni
Wavelet, WDS, sph.waveletdenoise
Wavelet, WDS, sph.waveletsharpen
BlackWhite, BW, com.corel.BlackAndWhite
BlackWhite, BW, tin.tin.zchannelmixer

# ----- rarely used
More, M, afx.mathBox
More, M, sph.grain
More, M, Presets.ui
More, M, sph.Vigne
More, M, sph.zPerspector

# ----- stuff i am not interested in, goes into the last tab
Stuff, S, SelectiveColor/SelectiveColorWidget.ui
Stuff, S, MirrorInvert.ui

- under Metadata I get a menu item called "Form" (see below) with a Manager selection at the bottom that does not work. I don't see "Form" anywhere in the file, Tools or Plugins. Where does this come from, what is its function?
ASP-120204A.jpg

- Even though I included Vigne and zPerspector under More, they appear under "Plugins 1" in the tabs. Grain and Presets appear in the More tab.

Any ideas?

there are some dummy-UI elements floating around in the folders of the software,
i guess they are left overs from testing things.

removing this line should get rid of the "Form" element:
Code: Select all
Metadata, Meta, Keywords/SimpleKeywordSetsWidget.ui

about Vigne and zPerspector.. must be some typo or different name,
did you get the identifier from the "Info.afpxml" file in the plugins' folder?

Here's my custom settings (that make sense to how I like to work at the moment). I was hesitant to dive into this, since some of it is trial and error. But, when you grab as many plugins as you can it really makes it useful to organize them in a way that works for you. Hopefully they will come out with a simple user interface to customize the tool layout....but it is really cool just to have the option to customize it.

Code: Select all

i did have a custom order of plugins by manually chabging the folder names. i only started using this customui method with ASP and it is absolutely brilliant.

is there a way to change the height of a tool (i made a Presets tab, but the tool could be higher, then i couldve more presets unfolded.

Grubend:

Thanks, that was the problem, obvious, of course. I put that in thinking it was the keyword manager in Keyword Sets.

I entered the names for Vigne and zPerspector from the file names in the explorer. Can't find (am missing) errors in spelling etc.

Thanks. It is interesting to see how others do things. In this exercise I found that the prefix to the plugin (e.g. tin.tin. or sph.) makes not difference in whether the plugin displays or not.
