AfterShot Pro Red-Eye Correction

Postby Tadjio on Fri Jan 20, 2012 10:29 am

Is there any way in ASP (or Bibble) to achieve Red-Eye Correction in a comparable way to PaintShop Pro?
Perhaps a plug-in?

there used to be a plugin. I am not sure if that one gets ported to ASP.

Rey - Red Eye Remover

It is made by tintin (same developer as wavelet sharpen / noise / zframe /zperspector etc... May be worth to ask.

Thanks, I can't see it in the AfterShotPro.com list of plug-ins.
I can wait...

It isn't in the list, tintin hasn't mentioned its future one way or another yet.

In the meantime using circle regions (don't forget to create a layer first if you're new to ASP/Bibble) that fit the red eyes reasonably closely and with a small feather (in a test shot I tried just now to check in ASP, I used 56 pixels with 8 feather on an 18MP image). I find that reducing exposure of the layer by 1-2 stops and decreasing the saturation to -50 to -75 gives good results.

Regards

Rick.

Thanks, Rick. I am new to ASP/Bibble and I think I'll resort to PSP as External Editor until a plug-in comes along, apart from playing with your suggestions...

or try to bounce your flash, or dont flash straight in the eyes, then you wouldnt need a repair..

Anyway, i would prefer to work with ASP even with images that need red eye correction or some other dust removal. THen you would just open them in an external editor like psp (i have an old version of PS elements) and touch the pixel data op. Keep in mind that ASP is a RAW editor that is most usefull if you have quite a few images at once.

I try to follow all these suggestions but on the rare occasion that I have Red Eye, I usually use PSP's excellent facility so I will carry on doing so from ASP using PSP as an External Editor, until a better plug-in solution arrives!

A very cool Film emulator by Sean Pucket (http://nexi.com/328). AS is incomplete without it ;-)
Sean is working on an AS version, so it is just a matter of days or a few weeks max I think before this shows up.

cheers

Sean was one of the first to start writing Bibble plugins IIRC. He generated quite a number of excellent ones. I miss Andrea...
